Croatia gets set for Euro jet ski competition
26 June 2008
The European Jet Ski Championships are set for Croatia this summer, it has been revealed.
Round one of the competition will begin in the country on July 4th and feature 22 competitors, according to the Lanark Gazette.
Jason Young, a winner of a British Jet Ski Championship qualifying round, told the newspaper the Croatian event will be the biggest challenge of his life.
The 18-year-old said he expects a lot of chopping in the water due to the number of participants in the competition off the Dalmatian coast.
He added: "The Croatian race is in the sea and I've only done two or three in the sea before, so it will be a real challenge."
It is the second major water-based sports event to take place in Croatia this summer.
At the start of the month the Labud Yachting Club near Split hosted the 2008 International Sailing Federation Eastern Hemisphere Championship, which included 11 of the 15 teams competing in this year's Olympic Games.
