Croatia holiday: Deal heralds another draw for poker pros
19 March 2008
Poker fans living or travelling in Croatia will soon be able to brush up their skills via interaction with "computer opponents".
As part of a pan-European licensing deal, Poker Academy is teaming up with French game publisher Anuman Interactive.
The move is intended by organisers to improve the know-how of Texas Holdem players around the world, thereby providing another source of entertainment for fans who opt to rent a villa or apartment in Croatia in the near future.
Kurt Lange, the president of Poker Academy, explained that his firm's products will enable Texas Holdem players to improve their poker skills in a "risk-free, educational environment" by training against advanced computer opponents.
"If a player can consistently beat our bots that play near-perfect poker, then they should do very well competing in any situation against humans who play flawed poker," he remarked.
"We continue to grow the number of languages we offer our products in, and this deal with Anuman will increase our footprint from English and French to up to six new languages," he added.
One popular Poker Academy package, dubbed Prospector, helps players learn their own and their opponents' game flaws by importing individuals' online poker hand histories.
These are then transformed into a visual breakdown of strengths and weaknesses to simulate any type of opponent, table type, game structure, scenario or drill at over 200 hands per hour.
