18 December 2007
A new luxury marina is to be developed in the Croatian coastal town of Sibenik, the developer Island Global Yachting has announced.
The new mega-yacht facility will be right next to the existing Mandalina marina and shopping, food and beverage outlets and a new hotel will be part of the development.
It will be close to Split International Airport, the Kornati Islands National Park, the Krka National Park, and two Unesco World Heritage Sites in the historic town of Trogir and the Cathedral of St James in Sibenik.
Andrew Farkas, founder and chairman of Island Global Yachting, said: "Croatia's international status as a world-class tourism destination is definitely on the rise and the yachting industry is central to that."
Ivana Prgin, president of marketing for Nautical Centre Prgin, which owns the Mandalina marina, agreed: "The waters around Sibenik are acclaimed as one of the world's greatest cruising areas and this new marina will enhance the experience even further."
