Croatia recommended as venue for swimming holiday
18 September 2008
Swimming among the Croatian islands has been recommended as a way to spend a holiday.
Caroline Sylger-Jones, the author of Body and Soul Escapes, a travel book of over 450 places around the world where you can "replenish mind, body and soul", wrote in the National that by the end of the week her "body and heart were singing".
She described the morning swim as a "revelation", with the Adriatic sea said to be calm and sapphire blue.
Ms Sylger-Jones claimed the gleaming sun and relaxing swims made her feel "lighter" and with a "smug grin" on her face by the end of the trip.
A particular highlight, the writer offered in the newspaper, was watching dolphins "dance joyfully with the boat" which accompanied the group while they were at sea.
Cycling vacations in Croatia were recently praised in a travel article in the Daily Telegraph.
Adam Ruck, who took such a holiday, wrote in the newspaper that Korcula was like visiting a "min-Dubrovnik" while he described Hvar as a Croatian St Tropez.
