Croatia recommended to US tourists

American tourists should head to central and eastern European destinations like Croatia, it has been claimed.
Marian Montgomery, a spokesperson for AAA, told the Dallas Morning News US travellers can get more value for money by visiting the likes of the Balkans rather than heading to western Europe.
She said there are bargains to be had and adds the whole area is now rising in popularity due to its value.
Nena Komarica of the Croatian National Tourist Office told the newspaper American tourists should explore areas such Dubrovnik and "up and coming" regions like Istria and Kvarner in the country.
She added: "It is much less expensive to travel to Croatia than in eurozone countries. Your dollar can be stretched a little bit further."
Dubrovnik has been packed with tourists recently, according to balkaninsight.com.
Tourists are converging on the town for their summer holidays it is claimed, with 12,000 travellers believed to have visited the area one weekend this month.
