Croatia singled out as growing property hotspot
21 January 2008
Eastern European destinations including Croatia and Montenegro have made it into a list of current foreign property hotspots.
A poll by property publication A Place in the Sun indicated that while traditional getaways such as France and Spain have not waned in popularity, a growing number of investors are setting their sights on more up-and-coming countries.
Richard Way, editor of A Place in the Sun magazine, remarked: "What's really interesting about our annual top 20 survey is that it shows UK buyers as traditional in one respect but also willing to seek out new hotspots and investment opportunities elsewhere."
His observation follows that of the respected BuyAssociation website, whose representatives recently highlighted that owning a holiday home is increasingly becoming "the norm" for Brits.
Other less established European markets singled out by A Place in the Sun for their burgeoning popularity included Turkey, Cyprus and Bulgaria.
Real estate specialist Croatiansun.com also recently noted the boom in Croatia's property market, attributing its popularity to the country's eco-friendly building regulations which take significant account of the coastline's preservation.
Bosses at the investment information service emphasised that Croatia offers a long-term property market, rather than a short-term one.
