Croatia travel: Like Italy or Greece, only cheaper
31 March 2008
Croatia is one of the top travel destinations in the world on account of its "stunning beaches" and bright future, according to one sailing organisation.
Representatives for Beyond Boundaries also singled out the eastern European country's "sparkling blue waters" and quaint villages as decisive factors in its rise to the top of the Mediterranean holiday table.
"It is blessed with sunny weather, the blue waters of the Adriatic, beautiful mountains, and classic old cities and villages," they remarked on their website.
The team continued: "If you love Italy and Greece, you will also love Croatia - many of its people speak English and all are tourist friendly."
Croatia's affordability in comparison to the rest of Europe is cited as another attraction for tourists and independent-minded travellers alike.
The yachting organiser concluded that sailing enthusiasts can make the most of their trip by cruising Croatia's many islands, sightseeing in its "beautiful port cities" and quaint island harbours and availing of cycling tours.
In a report by the Seattle Times this month, it was revealed that an increasing number of American travel enthusiasts are choosing to 'island-hop' in Croatia as it offers a less crowded and less expensive option than other Mediterranean destinations.
