Croatia travel: Losinj to get cash injection

Croatia accommodation is set for another boost as one of Europe's financial giants sets its sights on the eastern European hotspot's tourist potential.

The Financial reports that the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) will make a multi-million euro investment in the island paradise of Losinj, in the northern Adriatic.

Holiday areas and sights of interest to visitors will be rejuvenated with the funds, promising a slew of extra incentives for villa and apartment owners.

"One of the aims is to extend the tourist season by offering 'healthy lifestyle' products and services, such as spas and health centres, which could be used throughout the year," stated The Financial.

Representatives for the EBRD confirmed that Croatia's tourism industry comprises an ever-more important facet of the country's economy, and emphasised their desire to implement developments which will have "a positive effect" on the entire Losinj region.

Earlier this year, travel enthusiast Sheila Norman-Culp told the Associated Press that 'island-hopping' in areas like Losinj provides an alternative for people who consider traditional holiday destinations "too expensive, crowded or over-developed".ADNFCR-1197-ID-18496452-ADNFCR
