Croatia travel will save Brits money
13 May 2008
British tourists planning a holiday in mainland Europe this summer have been advised to avoid the eurozone and instead head for countries like Croatia.
The pound is currently at an all-time low against the euro, making many holidaymakers "see the wisdom" of alternative travel options, the Telegraph reports.
Croatia is among its list of eight easy-to-reach destinations which offer an alternative to traditional holiday spots such as France and Italy.
Markarska is particularly recommended by the newspaper for its pools and beaches, which although not sandy do possess rocky coastline views.
Half board packages to the south Croatian town are reported to be between £500-£600 and eating out costs £13 for three courses, "considerably lower than in France or Italy".
German travellers have also been recommended to visit Croatia on their holidays this year.
The country was found to be more cost-effective for budget conscious travellers than Denmark, France or Italy by motor company ACAD.
