Croatia 'undoubtedly a holiday home hotspot'
07 February 2008
Croatia has once again been tipped as a growing holiday home hotspot for UK investors.
According to property blog Nubricks, Britons continued to rank Spain and France last year, but an increasing proportion of people are venturing towards Croatia, Malta and Greece.
In its analysis of the Holiday Home Hotspots Review of 2007, Nubricks noted that the burgeoning eastern European mecca is favourable for tourists, is accessible by a range of low-cost flights and has considerable potential for capital gains appreciation.
"Additionally, the [review] identified a shift away from the pure investment buyer towards what it describes as a 'mixed use' investor, that is, people looking to use their property and rent it out when they are not there," its writers remarked.
They continued by noting that investment in Bulgaria appeared to slow down last year, a development which they attributed to falling tourist numbers and "too many empty properties" in the country.
Earlier this year, overseas real estate specialists Property Abroad also confirmed that Croatia's star continues to rise, singling out its "favourable location and attractive prices", which are drawing investors who prefer to "get ahead of everybody else".
