Croatia 'very, very popular' among Mediterranean sun seekers

Croatia's many islands and lucrative sailing opportunities are attracting a growing number of culture seekers to the country, it has emerged.
Representatives for the Croatian National Tourist Office noted that the Adriatic paradise is popular "all over", from northern areas such as Rijeka to locations further south towards Dubrovnik.
"It is a destination which is very, very popular at the moment - there's a lot [about Croatia] in the press," confirmed a spokesperson for the London branch of the country's tourist board.
He continued: "Our coastline is very dense, with over 1,000 islands," pointing out that the most visited are Korcula, Krk, Cres and Losinj.
Figures from the Croatian tourist board indicate that almost 11 million tourists – both foreign and domestic – visited Croatia between January and November 2007, a rise of eight per cent from the same period in 2006.
The range of sailing trips on offer has been singled out as one particular attraction, with 275,000 British holidaymakers alone choosing to travel to the country last year.
In response to growing demand, a wide range of airlines and tour operators now provide flights to the burgeoning holiday hotspot.
