Croatian ensemble joins Balkans opera on tour
15 May 2008
A Balkans opera which includes an ensemble of artists from Croatia is to go on tour across Europe this year, before heading to the US in 2009.
Differences in Demolitions premiered last year in the Bosnian city of Mostar, just over the Croatian border.
It is now set for a summer stint in Scotland at the Tune Up Initiative, as the composer celebrates turning 60 years-old in his home country.
The Scottish Arts Council is helping to host the opera and head of music Ian Smith said the organisation is delighted to welcome the Scot and his Balkan ensemble to the country.
He continued: "Differences in Demolition brings exceptional creative genius to the tune up stage and we are honoured to be able to promote this incredibly significant work, with the bonus of associated educational workshops by Opera Circus. A great end to a great season!"
Tickets for the opera performances cost between £10 and £15 and can next be caught at the University of Stirling tomorrow evening.
