Croatian islands among most beautiful
14 April 2008
Six Croatian islands have been named among the 16 most beautiful Mediterranean resorts in a new book.
Vis, Solta, Sipan, Mljet, St Klement and Scedro, islands in the Dalmatian region of Croatia, have all been named as top holidaying destinations in Mediterranean Islands by Charles Arnold.
In the book the author writes about the historic places which can be visited on the islands, the wild nature there and the sea food and local wines.
Solta, one of the islands mentioned, is just ten kilometres from Split and has four harbours and many beaches.
Another of the islands, Sipan, is located around an hour's boat journey away from Dubrovnik and boasts a number of historic locations.
Scedro is located south of the larger island of Hvar and has several archaeological sites and, as with all of the islands, a Mediterranean climate.
Holidaymakers looking to visit the islands can stay over in Croatian villas.
