Croatian museums open their doors

The latest in a series of special museum nights hosted by institutions across Croatia proved popular, it has been reported.

According to Javno, the event - held on January 25th - attracted thousands of visitors in a number of cities, including Dubrovnik, Split and Zagreb.

The news provider noted that the free night was a "great success for Croatian culture", suggesting that the evening was also promoted on social networking site Facebook.

"The internet generation, the people that you would think are least interested in such events, have proven that museums can be interesting," it added.

In related news, officials in Belica are said to be considering developing a brand new theme park based on the local market for potatoes, Ananova reports.

Mayor Zvonimir Taradi said that given the town's history, the theme was an "obvious selection".

According to the news provider, Belica is already home to a potato monument.
