Croatian tourism 'could increase'
20 June 2008
Preliminary bookings and demand will ensure tourism levels stay the same in Croatia this year at the very least, it has been claimed.
The tourism ministry has suggested it could grow by three per cent, despite rising inflation across Europe, reports Reuters.
Rising fuel prices should have little, if any, effect on the number of people taking a trip to Croatia by car as they are high across the continent and not just in one country, the ministry continued.
Zelimir Kramaric, a senior official at the tourism ministry, added to the news provider: "We expect the number of guests this year will remain at least on last year's level.
"We even see the possibility that their number could increase some three per cent, which would boost our annual tourism revenues some three to five per cent."
It was revealed recently by balkaninsight.com that tourists are travelling to Dubrovnik in their numbers.
The historic town has been filled with people taking photographs of its landmarks, according to the website.
