25 February 2008
The popular Croatian city of Dubrovnik has been described as a "paradise" by one visitor.
Writing for the Idaho Mountain Express, Jon Duval said that the area is also steeped in history, with homes that would be considered "archaeological treasures" if located anywhere else.
"Perched atop a rock outcropping in the Adriatic Sea, this medieval remnant at the southern tip of Croatia is one part art history lesson and one part Mediterranean paradise," he claimed.
The American tourist also noted that the island of Lokrum offers the more adventurous tourist "some fantastic cliff diving opportunities".
People wishing to explore the vibrant city may be pleased to know that Iberia which is part of the Oneworld group of airlines - is to offer flights to Dubrovnik from Madrid from June 7th.
The airline will become the third within the group to fly to the region, joining British Airways and Malev Hungarian Airlines.
