Dubrovnik holiday: Like Miami, only better

The walled city of Dubrovnik has been compared to Miami - if the Florida funspot had been founded a millennium ago.

Writing in the Idaho Mountain Express, travel specialist Jon Duval described southern Croatia's medieval mecca as "one part art history lesson and one part Mediterranean paradise".

In the course of his Adriatic adventure, the sports fan ventured onto the island of Lokrum, situated close to Dubrovnik and known by nature enthusiasts for its nude beach.

"Lokrum's geological formation of layered rock slabs led not only to an interesting formation of sunbathers, but also presented some fantastic cliff-diving opportunities that made me thankful I was still attired in my board shorts," Mr Duval quipped.

People interested in a Dubrovnik holiday had another airborne option added to the existing range recently, as Iberia Airlines became the third carrier to introduce more flights to the so-called "Pearl of the Adriatic".

Croatia travel enthusiasts were encouraged to avail of the routes, with prices starting at around 111 euros (£85).ADNFCR-1197-ID-18490120-ADNFCR
