Dubrovnik sets up new cruising club
26 February 2008
To ensure that the charming city of Dubrovnik retains its picturesque qualities, the city authorities have established a body similar to that found in other Mediterranean reposts.
Following in the footsteps of Monte Carlo and Nice, Dubrovnik now has a Cruising Club to make sure that cruise ships are coordinated and the resort does not become too overcrowded, Balkan Travellers reports.
The club will have the authority to limit and remove operational concessions for vessels which are found to break the new limitations.
Dubrovnik has grown in popularity in recent years, as visitors discover its unique and historical charm.
Those looking for a Dalmatia holiday may be interested to know that city is known as the 'pearl of the Adriatic' and was founded in the seventh centre and is currently a world heritage site.
According to the Daily Telegraph, Dubrovnik is "one of the most stylish cities on the Mediterranean, with a vibrant café society and arts scene".
The city also draws visitors when it stages a Summer Festival, which takes place between July and August, the newspaper notes.
