Dubrovnik trip a 'fascinating' holiday experience

A tour taking in Dubrovnik is being offered to people over the age of 50 by organisers who deem the destination "one of Europe's most fascinating cultural cities".

Saga Holidays, which specialises in trips for the older globe-trekker, singled out the east of the continent as an illustration of the vast tourist potential of the "other side" of the Mediterranean.

"Customers travelling on the Sarajevo, Mostar and Dubrovnik tour will discover where 'east meets west', along with some of Europe's most fascinating cultural cities," confirmed the company in a statement.

Representatives went on to note highlights of the tour, including a cruise along the River Neretva by traditional wooden boat, a visit to "the medieval city" of Dubrovnik and an optional excursion to the Pyramids of Visoko – believed to be the first discovered European pyramid.

Writing on Xpress4me.com recently, travel advisor Emma Pomfret noted that the "ancient, red-roofed towns" found on Croatia's Adriatic coast and islands are "just as beautiful" today as they were when Franciscan monks, Romans and even Napoleon frequented them.ADNFCR-1197-ID-18441749-ADNFCR
