Enjoy the 'king of the Adriatic' seafood in Dubrovnik
04 December 2007
Try fantastic Croatian seafood in an idyllic waterfront restaurant and you'll be coming back for more every night, writes Emma Pomfret in the Welsh Western Mail newspaper.
After tasting the razor-toothed Zubatec, or "King of the Adriatic" caught off the coast of Dubrovnik, she was hooked on the "distinctive meaty yet delicate lemony taste".
Ms Pomfret was impressed with the "sheer variety of eclectic European dishes, ranging from fresh fish to Buzara - boiled scampi in a rich wine sauce".
If you tire of seafood, there are a multitude of excellent Italian-style wood-fired pizzerias to keep people on holiday in Croatia happy with perfect thin crust pizzas.
Of course you should try the most famous dish of Dalmatia. Called Peka, this delicious stew is made with meat or fish and potatoes in a big round pan and placed in a clay over the smouldering coals.
Eating in one of the many restaurants and traditional tavernas along the sea-front will be the part of your Dubrovnik holiday you will savour the most.
