Festival a 'perfect time' to visit Dubrovnik
29 July 2008
With its summer festival ongoing, now is a perfect time to visit Dubrovnik in Croatia, it is suggested.
According to an article in the Belfast Telegraph, the historic city is "even more vibrant than usual" during the event.
It is claimed the walled old town is the main focus for tourists and includes a number of attractions, such as the gate entrances to the 2km pedestrian zone and an ancient harbour at the end of the central thoroughfare.
Harriet O'Brien, a travel writer for the newspaper, says a walk along the top of Dubrovnik's walls is "a highlight of the visit".
She continues: "These splendid fortifications date back to the tenth century in parts, the 13th century in others.
"They reach 25 metres in height and are liberally punctuated with battlements and bastions."
Several performances of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's dream and a production by local playwright M Drzic are among a range of events still to take place in the Dubrovnik Summer Festival, according to homesgofast.com.
The festival still has over two weeks to run, culminating on August 15th.
