Holidaymakers prefer Croatian villas
08 April 2008
Holidaymakers in Croatia are switching from hotel accommodation to private dwellings such as Croatian villas, it has been reported.
Research from the Croatian Bureau of Statistics showed that last year the majority of people visiting the country stayed in Croatian villas rather than hotels.
In 2007 there were 15 million overnight stays in the country, compared to 18 million overnight stays in private properties.
According to the website Nubricks.com, as a villa in Croatia often works out as cheaper for a family of four than staying in a hotel then it is no wonder that the popularity of private accommodation is increasing.
The figures also revealed that there had been a four per cent increase in the number of tourist arrivals in Croatia last year and a three years increase in the number of tourist overnight stays.
In related news, from May 19th, a route to Croatian capital Zagreb will be served from the base by Croatia Airlines, with departures three times a week, giving more chances for people to visit Croatia.
