Iron Maiden heading for Spilt

The city of Spilt in Croatia is set to play host to aging rockers Iron Maiden.

With the gig set to take place on August 10th fans of the heavy metal outfit have already snapped up 4,000 tickets, reports Javno.

The concert will be the band's third visit to Croatia. Iron Maiden have previously played in Zagreb in 1986 and Velika Gorica in 2003.

Having formed on Christmas Day 1975 the band released their first album in 1980.

The band has had a number of line ups over the years with a total of 24 different people involved at some point in their history.

Iron Maiden's Croatian gig will take place at City Stadium, Spilt. The stadium is the largest in the country and is home to football side Hajduk Split.

The stadium is also earmarked for a refurbishment which, it is planned, will increase the number of seats from 35,000 to 44,000.
