Island a 'must' for Croatian sailing trips
17 January 2008
Marina Preko - situated on the Dalmatian island of Ugljanu - is a "must" for sailing enthusiasts, according to boating and maritime experts.
BYM News notes that the marina, due to open in March, is located in Croatia's optimum sailing area, giving visitors all the delights of an island while still maintaining easy access to other areas.
"Marina Preko offers secure berthing surrounded by modern facilities, in an attractive small town on the north-east facing coast of the island of Ugljanu," the publication explains.
It continues: "There is a modern shower block and marina office on site, as well as the village bars and restaurants nearby."
Furthermore, a fruit and vegetable market offering local produce lies within 50 metres.
Preko is a brief ferry ride from the mainland port of Zadar where the nearest airport is located.
Also within easy cruising distance of Italy's Adriatic coastline, it can be reached by car from other parts of Europe or by boat from Dubrovnik, Split and other ports.
With Croatia continuing to experience one of the biggest tourism booms worldwide, a host of major resort operations are currently underway on the country's Dalmatian coast.
