Organic holidays in Croatia

With the popularity of organic food and healthy holidays soaring, Croatia offers fresh untainted food from the farmgate.
There are now well over 5,000 hectares of farmland and 340 farms registered as organically managed and the country is encouraging the development of the sector to meet burgeoning European demand.
Staying in a villa in Croatia you can enjoy buying and preparing food from the many small organic farms or at weekly markets in villages.
Organic honey is a growing industry as Croatia has around 17,000 hectares of organic bee pasture.
Wild herbs, wild berries and mushrooms are used extensively in Croatian cooking and are generally considered organic.
There are two vineyards producing organic wines, several organic olive oil producers and a few farms producing goat milk.
Croatia has been developing the industry since 2002 and there are now registered certification bodies and inspectors.
