Prospects for 2008 Croatia travel 'hugely encouraging'

Croatia travel and general tourism trends will not be drastically affected by the credit crunch, according to experts.

Travel Weekly reports predictions from independent travel agents who are "optimistic" about bookings for the coming year.

In a poll of 1,000 organisations by field marketing company The Network, Croatia ranked alongside Italy and Greece in a selection of the short-haul destinations expected to experience growth in booking numbers.

"The prospects for 2008 holiday bookings through the trade are hugely encouraging." The Network's business development director Paula Lacey told the publication.

She went on to speculate that long-haul destinations such as Australia and the US would also remain consistent in the popularity stakes.

The Network's survey results correspond with those of a growing number of studies which suggest that Croatia will continue to blossom as a holiday home hotspot for UK investors.

Property blog Nubricks recently confirmed that although Britons still rank Spain and France as lucrative destinations, an increasing proportion of people are venturing towards Croatia, Malta and Greece for both holidays and property rental. ADNFCR-1197-ID-18488092-ADNFCR
