The Amazing Race features Dubrovnik
10 December 2007
Competitors on US reality TV show The Amazing Race visited Croatia this week and helped with the restoration of Dubrovnik's ancient city walls.
The first clue sent participants to the fortress of St Lawrence, one of five fortifications in the walls of Dubrovnik and part of one of the most beautiful fort systems in Europe.
The other towers are Revelin, Minceta, Fort Bokar and St John's Fortress, all of which provide unforgettable panoramic views of the city.
Some team members next had to assist in a restoration project by sorting through piles of stones until they found one to fit into a special groove in the wall.
Unfortunately they didn't have time to walk around the walls of Dubrovnik, which encircle the entire city, running intact for 1,940 metres.
Instead they either had to zip-line across to a tower and down to the harbour, where they jumped in a boat and rowed across to the marina.
Or they rappelled down the side of the fortress, climbed up another part of the wall on a rope ladder and then run through the winding cobbled streets of Dubrovnik.
The next clue told teams to catch a cab up to the Stone Cross located above the city.
After all that excitement, episode 12 left the teams in Dubrovnik, presumably enjoying a well earned rest at their Dubrovnik accommodation.
