Tiny talent out in force for miniature ceramics show

A miniature ceramics show in Croatia has attracted a wealth of 'tiny' artistic talent from around the world.

Taking place in renowned artistic retreat Rovinj - situated on the peninsula of Istria in the Adriatic - entries for the Lilliput Exhibition must be less than 17 centimetres high and weigh less than a kilogramme.

So far, around 325 sculptors from 71 countries have downsized their visions to take part in the competition, reports China Central Television.

According to the news provider, the exhibition was first organised in 1980 by Croatian artist Hanibal Salvaro, and since then has become one of the most prestigious regular ceramics events across the globe.

"This concept gives artists the chance to participate in a world-class exhibition and not invest too much money, sometimes not even sophisticated technology, no matter which country they live in," curator Mr Salvaro told the news provider.

He went on to explain that 12 awards will be presented to those entries judged by an international panel to be the best, including the prestigious Award Croatia and Grande Prix Trophy.

Another quirky art genre is on offer to Croatia holiday enthusiasts who choose to visit Zagreb this May, with the capital's UrbanFestival dedicated to celebrating modern art in "public inner city spaces".
