Vacation Croatia: Zagreb festival lined up for July

Croatia holiday enthusiasts have the chance to catch some of its capital city's cultural delights this summer.

Tourism officials have just released details of Zagreb's International Folklore Festival, which will take place from July 16th to 20th.

According to reports, the festival will feature "musical and theatrical delights" evoking the eastern European hotspot's traditional past, as well as an "international showcase" of world music from artists who will travel to Croatia from all corners of the globe.

Furthermore, a particular focus will be on the folklore of Croats living in neighbouring destinations Bosnia and Herzegovina.

During the festival, tourists and independent travellers who have opted to rent a Croatian villa or apartment can avail of craft, music and dance workshops galore, while Zagreb puppet-theatre productions promise to keep children entertained.

Confirmation of Zagreb's cultural hothouse comes in the wake of Kraljevi Ulice - a group of street musicians from the capital - scooping the top spot in a contest to represent Croatia in this year's Eurovision song contest.

Holidaymakers can catch a glimpse of the 'Kings of the Street' in Zagreb's main square, where they perform every day by the city's largest market.
