Croatian Airlines flight ATR 42 carried 35 passengers on its maiden flight to Golubovci Airport, reports visit-montenegro.com.
Orhan Hodzic, a general representative of Croatia Airlines in Montenegro, told the website interest for the route is expected to rise significantly according to current trends.
He said the popularity of the flights will grow to the extent that a new 76-seat aircraft will soon be used for the route.
"We believe that good relations between [the] two countries and increased interest in such travels would lead to the introduction of daily flights of Croatia Airlines to this destination of summer next year," Mr Hodzic continued.
He added: "Passengers would thus also be enabled to use Zagreb as [a] connecting airport for many other European destinations."
Croatian Airlines are also offering direct flights from Zagreb to Pristina in Albania three times a week, according to just4airlines.com.
