Zagreb to host international puppet festival

Travellers enthralled by the ancient art of puppetry may be interested to know Croatia's capital, Zagreb, is holding its annual international festival for manikins this autumn.
Costing 20 kuna (£2.18) for entry, visitors can enjoy demonstrations by more than 20 "star European ensembles" in a range of venues in the city, according to the Croatian Whats On When guide.
Performances will take place on the streets and in theatres, with the opportunity to meet and chat to puppeteers.
Seminars will also be offered on the making of puppets, while animations and exhibitions are also set to take place.
Meanwhile, visitors to Pula can be entertained by the annual Histria festival until September.
It has been ongoing since June and features concert and ballet performances by worldwide artists in a range of "breathtaking" venues from the old Roman arena to the island of Brijuni.
Costs vary, while performances start at 21:00 or 21:30 local time.
