    Stayed  July/August 2017

    Alex has been very helpful, answering all my queries quickly and sorting things out for me

    The property is generally delightful - the bedrooms and en suite bathrooms are all beautifully fitted out, as is the living room. We did not need the sauna,"spa" or gym in temperatures of 30+! The kitchen is very well fitted out, the a/c is brilliant and all the outdoor seating areas are large and very comfortable. The pool is great, but the jetty is superb for diving and swimming - just have to be careful of the sea urchins!

    Owner was extremely helpful and wanted to do all he could to make our stay in his villa memorable: he organised a small boat for us for 4 days and took my sons to collect it from Slano, he brought us fresh fish from the fishermen, which he picked up at 7 am. When we had a problem with an a/c unit he came immediately to fix it and frequently asked if there was anything he could do for us - a charming and delightful young man.

    Impressed with: All the people we met were very helpful and proud of their country. They truly wanted visitors to enjoy it. The scenery is breathtaking - both from the sea and on the coastal road English is spoken everywhere and the children learn it at primary school.
    Not impressed with: The lack of investment in the infrastructure and the poor state of the economy. Apparently there is huge unemployment and disappointment that there has been so little help forthcoming from the EU.
    Recommend:  Obviously a trip into Dubrovnik is essential: we were advised to arrive after 4 pm, when all the cruise ship passengers have left and it is cooler. We drove straight up to the fortress, visited the War museum (fascinating) and went down to the city on the cable car, which is open until midnight. There is time to walk the City Walls, wander and have a meal before returning in the cable car to our free parking spot.(parking in Dubrovnik is difficult and terribly expensive) We loved having the small boat, with out board motor and sun awning, seating about 8 people, (which Alex and Ante organised for us) and visiting small coves for snorkelling. A lovely lunch spot is Luka's in Kobas, near the southern end of the Peljesac peninsula (turn left out of Ston) it is on the quay and we were able to swim between courses. No credit cards and quite expensive. Bakus in Ston has good food and is good value. The little kiosk on the way to Mali Ston is great for oysters. Gastro Vista on the road to Majkovi (Ante has details) has wonderful views and lovely food cooked on a wood burner. (no credit cards) We did our large super market shop in Konzum - 10 minutes out of the airport, which was useful as the small shops in Slano and Ston are limited
    Favourite villa moment: Many lovely moments, but perhaps the favourite was sitting in the garden at night star-gazing and counting shooting stars, with no light pollution - and a glass of Sljivovica (plum brandy)

    Stayed July 2016

    Idyllic setting in a very quiet, almost private, bay with plenty of space both inside and out and with its own access to the sea for swimming and snorkelling. The location is perfect for those wanting to be away from the hustle and bustle of a city, but only 40 mins drive north of Dubrovnik and just 15 minutes from the walls of Strom. The villa itself is very well appointed with sauna, games room and gym. There is even a wine fridge stocked with local wines which can be purchased, making sampling very easy! Each bedroom has a very modern en suite/ wet room and is air conditioned. The villa wifi proved itself to be very reliable after a slow start on the first day. Plenty of balcony and outside terrace space, both covered and open with bbq facilities available. All in all, a great place to stay, chill and relax, but within easy travel of Dubrovnik along the spectacular Croatian coastline.  

    The owner is a really nice guy who can't do enough to help you with advice and recommendations and even willing to acquire fresh fish from a local fisherman if you fancy it.

    Impressed with:  Beautiful scenery, very friendly people and reasonable prices, even for 'touristy' Dubrovnik.
    Not impressed with:  Nothing
    Recommend: Bakus restaurant in Ston served fantastic food with a great variety on the menu including local seafood and was also great value. All the coastline was a delight, but a drive up to the island of Korcula is worth the trip and a visit to the walls of Strom a must on top of the obligatory Old town Dubrovnik. If you get the chance, drive up to the top of the cable car for spectacular scenery.  
    Favourite villa moment: The tranquil setting of the villa is my abiding memory. Sitting outside by the pool with a glass of rosé taking in the beautiful sea and island views as the evening falls!

    We booked through Croatian Villas part of Authentic Villa Holidays as it was the only place that I could find a villa to sleep 21 people for a reasonable price! We felt so looked after, Ivana made sure that we had everything that we needed.

    When emailing Sarah she facilitated taxis too and from the airport for all 21 guests who were arriving at different times throughout the weekend.  Ivana turned up at the villa on the Sunday to accommodate us leaving early and getting our deposit back. We couldn’t have asked for better service. Sarah recommended a caterer for the Saturday evening who was also fantastic.

    Lovely choice of properties We had the most amazing time - thank you so much for accommodating us. It made for a fantastic hen weekend for my Sister in law to be

    Impressed with: The coast line is stunning. Everything is so reasonably priced. The people are lovely.
    Not impressed with:  Nothing
    Recommend: I would recommend Copa in Zotan for dinner. We went to Revelin in Dubrovnik for a night out - I would recommend that for younger groups looking for a club. I would also recommend the buza Bar for sunset and drinks
    Favourite villa moment: Saturday night with the caterer and his chef - it was fantastic!

    The caretakers were very responsive.

    I believe the description should have included that the house is on a hill and does require some physical ability to get to and from the small Zaton village. If you had a physical issue it would be a problem for any guest, as it was for one of our family members.

    The lower two bedrooms cannot be accessed from the house. You must walk outside and upstairs to join the main part of the home. These family members felt a little removed from the rest of the guests.

    Impressed with: It is clean, very clean and the landscape is breathtaking

    Recommend: Zaton Water Sports assisted us with all of our activities. They coordinated an evening sunset boat trip to Dubrovnik, a full day private boat tour and coordinated all our other transportation needs. They were very helpful.

    Favourite villa moment: The chef at The Capo Restaurant came to the villa and prepared a beautiful cooked breakfast on the large outdoor patio.

    Stunning, Comfortable, very well equipped. Only negative we faced were number of wasps around the pool. No obvious nest immediately around the property, so almost certain that there was nothing owners could have done, but with young children (2 stings), and the wasps attracted by the water during heat of the day, it became restrictive on their use of the pool at times.

    Property owner was extremely - very responsive, never intrusive.

    We've been to Brac and now Orebic, loved both villas (Villa Mira last year), probably preferred Brac to Orebic as slightly more to do with the children, although Dubrovnik for a couple of days subsequently was absolutely fantastic - loved it. Entirely open to suggestions of where we could try next... over to you!

    Impressed with: Beautiful, friendly, climate, food, affordable, clean (although Dubrovnik region noticeable more expensive than Split/Brac Island).
    Not impressed with:  Nothing
    Recommend: Mostly self-catered, used a couple of local restaurants (can't remember names) but all were good. Day trip to Korcula was fantastic and not to be missed. Trip to Ston to climb the walls and see the salt works was well worth it.
    Favourite villa moment: Night swimming with pool lights on (fantastic), then enjoying glass of wine on sun loungers in total darkness and watching the stars. Unforgettable.

    Excellent property. Fantastically furnished for our use. Bit difficult to locate for taxi (and subsequent taxis) as quite an unusual approach - possibly a map? The agents were fabulous and the cleaner was lovely (she had had a poor experience the week before so I think we were quite welcome)

    Might be worth stressing that the deposit is in Euros - I double checked with you so it was fine for us.

    The holiday exceeded our expectations. The villa was far better than I expected, the welcome (and buffet) unexpected and very generous, I had missed that there was a cleaner - so excellent! The supplies were appropriate and more than I expected - for example I bought dishwasher tablets and there were some left. I think you probably under sell yourselves!

    Impressed with: Water cleanliness.
    Not impressed with: The people could be a little gruff
    Recommend: The windsurfing and paddle board rental was ok and nearby. The Tommy supermarket was the best - but very busy in the afternoons and quite a walk so pick your time. The restaurants nearby are mixed (Leonardo best) but boat into Trogir gives loads of choice of excellent quality.TRS Konoba and Don Dino our favourites. The ice cream bars are all great.

    Just a quick note to say thank you for arranging the Villa. It was great and we really enjoyed our stay. The service you provided was excellent. Communication was clear and quick, and you were very helpful and pleasant to deal with. Customer service seems to be declining these days, but you did an excellent job and it was refreshing to deal with someone so good at their job and willing to go above and beyond to get things done given the last minute nature of the booking

    Excellent property, in excellent condition - everything brand new in 2015. Elegantly and tastefully decorated and furnished, with plenty of space. Kitchen facilities and kitchen and dining equipment plentiful and all superb - good working aircon. 3 different eating areas dining room, patio terrace and balcony. Fantastic spacious pool with lots of comfortable pool terrace furniture. Well maintained grounds - with added value of pool table (as in shooting balls not water) and table tennis and large barbq area. Great location in quiet neat smart neighbourhood 1 minute from local beach and just a 15 minute pleasant waterfront walk to:- the main beach of the whole island plus local shops; bank atms; bars; cafes; nightlife; restaurants; and regular water taxis (running morning to midnight) to nearby historic Trogir. If one was being picky in an ideal world some would want a rental where the 15 min walk reduced to 5 mins to the local action but not a big deal, and otherwise this is pretty much the perfect holiday beach villa. Good security (building locks and safety deposit box). Beds all comfortable, all rooms had en-suite shower and bathrooms in excellent condition all worked - towels and bed-linen and mattresses good quality and very comfortable. Plenty of storage space.

    Local property manager was very helpful, professional and welcoming - very responsive to all requests, well connected and informed for making related tour arrangements. Very quickly resolved couple minor problems same day reported . Just 30 mins from Split airport. Stacks to do in the area from R&R, soft adventure, culture, natural beauty, boat rides, snorkelling etc weather in August perfect blue sky sunny all day pleasing 28-32 hot temp dawn through dusk - odd evening 20 minute thunderstorm clears the air keeps things fresh . The overall area offers something for families, toddlers. young kids, couples, teens, those in their 20s through all the ages to retirement folks. Tip if you getting a transfer to anywhere for tour when leaving the island get a water taxi to Trogir for Okrug jetty (15 mins from Villa Avalon see comments above) and start transfer from there as always delays on bridge to get off island and you save a lot of time, hassle and money getting boat first to skip the bridge and more pleasant than the traffic jam. I am very well and regularly traveled worldwide over many years (business and leisure) and an ex-media professional (now latterly a travel professional myself so not automatically pre-disposed to giving glowing reviews and not easily pleased coming to all travel experiences with a 'crtical eye' ) and this property and resort rank very highly. I highly recommend - this is a top-notch rental you will not regret it if you book.

    A lovely villa, nice and quiet (although we weren't quite aware how far away from anyone else it was!). Owner was Very helpful - we had issues with the electricity as a result of the very high temperatures, but the owners were happy to come and deal with it.

    Location information isn't quite right, it was about 5km to the nearest town/beach, and more like 10 minutes rather than 5mins.

    Impressed with: Friendly people
    Recommend: The beach at Lovrecina was perfect for swimming, nice sandy beach and very gradual slope into the sea. The "beach" in Pucisca was very good for snorkelling.
    Favourite villa moment: Long queues for the Supetar ferry returning home on the Saturday

    The villa was in a great peaceful location. Perfect for our young family. It was absolutely spotless and beautifully maintained. Had everything we needed including fresh fruit and veg to pick!! It really was perfect.

    The owners could honestly not of done more to make us feel at home and make the most of our holiday. By getting to know them it really enhanced our stay. They are lovely people.

    The whole process was seamless and stress free

    Impressed with:  People, scenery, value, the Adriatic Sea. It's a stunningly beautiful place
    Not impressed with:  No barriers on the hairpin bends!!
    Recommend: Konoba Rojen in Luka Bay is special. Didn't have a bad meal anywhere. The BBQ/grill at the villa is amazing also. Pucisca and Brac in general are stunning but particularly Pucisca.
    Favourite villa moment: Watching the kids have fun in the pool, the amazing BBQ, view from the balcony, relaxing in the gorgeous sun.

    Beautiful, very well cared for property. Very peaceful location, only 5 mins drive from Pucisca. Wonderful sunset views. Would definitely recommend.  Owners are perfect hosts. Friendly and hospitable, their input definitely added to our Croatian holiday.

    Impressed with: Friendly people, scenery, old town architecture, amazingly blue and clear water, lack of fast food outlets.
    Recommend: Yes, but can't remember names of restaurants. Sorry!Wonderful fish and lamb dishes. Lovrecina beach sandy and good for young children. Zlatni Rat - lively, fun water attractions for all ages.
    Favourite villa moment: Breakfast on the verandah, sundowners on the balcony, any time in the pool.
