    Nice apartment, but it was a little further walk away from centre of town/beaches than we realised from the details provided because it involves a steep hill, so although it was 50m from sea it's not practical due to a steep cliff, in reality it was about a 1km. It needs a car/bus if you're not too fit. Very beautiful countryside and coastal scenery. Excellent restaurants. Lots of interesting places to visit around Dubrovnik (if you have a car). Good level of English spoken. Good value for money outside Eurozone. Clean and tidy for the most part. Crystal clear seas.

    Caretaker was very helpful, nice lady. More warning of the many mosquitoes, should have known but the ferocity of the little devils was extreme.  We were disappointed at the lack of sun allowed on to the rear terrace due to the hillside position and the many tall trees there. We couldn't get the English programmes on the TV but as we wouldn't let the men watch, it didn't matter! Also could have done with another armchair in the lounge.

     We used Rental Cars and were happy with the vehicle. However collection and drop off at the airport is a nightmare as there is not enough space to drive in and out.

    Impressed with: Scenery, lovely coastal drives, cleanliness of the sea and the air, reasonable eating out. 
    Not impressed with: Hilliness everywhere! People generally weren't the most friendly we have encountered but we did come across some very nice ones.
    Recommend:  Scala Pizzeria near Tommy’s Supermarket, which was also good. Visit to Dubrovnik Old Town and wall walk is a must. Lots of restaurants and bars there too.
    Favourite villa moment: Sunset over the sea viewed from one of the pleasant bars along Lapad Beach.

    Impressed with: Relaxed, nice people. Good value for money and lovely water to swim in.
    Not impressed with: Dubrovnik is a bit overrated. Lovely history but too many people from the cruise ships and day trips.
    Recommend: We visited the island of Lokrum from Dubrovnik harbour for the day. It’s a 10 minute boat ride and has an inland lake for swimming which was lovely.
    Favourite villa moment: We loved having the aircon and wifi to come back to after a hot day at the beach, and that we didn't have to pay extra for it.

    Beautiful villa and exactly as advertised.

    It was nice to have everything as advertised. I found the information provided on the website and by email prior to the trip was great. Very private - comfortable beds. Beautiful beaches and scenery. Amazing history - Dubrovnik was amazing. Felt very safe and at ease - no trouble being understood; a majority of people spoke some English. We arranged a car hire and insurance through the website also - it was also very well-organized and we were able to pick up the car with no problems. It served our needs very well and we were able to easily do several day trips to Split and Montenegro from Dubrovnik.

    Everything we needed was provided. The patio chairs aren't very comfortable and the view is so nice we would have stayed up there much longer. Caretaker was wonderful and very friendly. The walk through was informative.

    Not impressed with: I enjoyed everything.
    Recommend: I enjoyed walking on the wall and the little bar out on the cliffs was amazing.

    We could have done with more information - we struggled to make the TV work initially. Leaflets about buses and boats, as well as other destinations would have been helpful as well as info about other places to eat .

    The kitchen lacked a sharp knives , we struggled to cut a loaf of bread with the one knife provided . A welcome pack including tea , coffee , dishwasher tabs , etc would have been helpful . A tray to help carry things up to the sun terrace . The sun umbrella on the upper terrace didn't stand up so we were unable to use the terrace after mid- morning . The ground floor bedroom didn't have a set of drawers or wardrobe to store clothes etc . As we didn't use it it wasn't a problem but it would have been if the third member of our party had been able to come . Despite the above we really enjoyed our stay and would happily return if there were only 2 of us in the party . The air con was a real blessing.

    Property manager was very pleasant and helpful, she replied to out texts about the TV promptly and in English . She collected us from the car park fairly promptly.

    A welcome pack should be provided in each property.

    Impressed with:  The beautiful coastal scenery, Cavtat as a pretty place. Dubrovnik as a beautiful city
    Not impressed with: The food was expensive and quite boring, a lot of the restaurants didn’t use seasoning so the food was bland.
    Recommend: Poseidon was excellent, lovely position on the harbour and tasty food at reasonable prices. Quite a few of the other restaurants offered average food at quite high prices. We enjoyed the carnival on the first weekend we were there , Sunday 28th July .
    Favourite villa moment: We enjoyed sitting in the courtyard in the afternoons reading a book.

    Villa Comments: There is a booklet in the villa under the TV set explaining how to use appliances including the TV, dishwasher, washing machine. For recommendations we are always on hand to advise guests. We have now added extra sharp knives although we thought the ones that were there were sharp enough. We are sorry the guests struggled. There is a tray located near the dishes section. We took down the sun umbrellas before the guests arrived because of the wind as they may have been blown down. They were there and customers just needed to erect them again, if guests were having a problem they could always contact us, we are happy to help.

    As per our 3 star classification, the ground floor room as a hanger stand and a stand for the luggage and we do not need to provide a wardrobe if we provide this in a room.

    With regard to furniture, a small table on the upper balcony would be useful. With regard to kitchen equipment a tray to carry food and drink up to upper balcony would be helpful.

    The villa was amazing and just like the pictures. It was in a beautiful location and was well equipped with all kitchen utensils. It was spacious and only a short taxi ride to the old town. We would definitely recommend a stay here - you will not be disappointed.

    The owners were great and were very helpful. They helped us with our luggage and were contactable if we had any questions. They were very friendly and we had a dinner cooked by them which was amazing. They were also very flexible regarding our check in time and let us check in early and check out later. Thank you!

    One thing to mention is that it is better to contact the owner directly rather through Croatian villas if you want a flexible check in time. We did not find Croatian villas useful or helpful in this respect.

    Recommend:The old town is a short taxi ride away. A walk to Lapad beach area is also very nice.

    Croatian Villas comment about check in time: The check in time can only be varied by the property manager. Any variation to check in / check out time will depend on previous guests check out time / next guests check in time. So e.g 2 weeks before you arrive, the villa may show unoccupied the day before your arrival, however a last minute booking could come in which could occupy the day before your arrival. This is the reason Croatian Villas can only recommend you contact the property directly the day before or on the day of your arrival to request an earlier check in. Same situation applies to check out time.

    While the house was nice, we hired the villa because of the private heated pool advertised on your website. When we got there, the pool was not heated, but worse, it was filled with muddy water, was absolutely filthy. The owners were also very unfriendly and the villa was furnished with a meager supply of dishes and glassware. The pots and pans were also too small for a villa advertised to sleep 8-10.

    Villa Comment: When you arrived there had been terrible weather/storms and even floods in Dubrovnik, most unseasonal, which had caused havoc with the pool. The owners offered you immediately a 20% discount because of this and this was something you accepted. Amount of dishes and glassware is sufficient for up to 12 persons.

    On the same day it was realised that more people were going to stay at the house (11/12 in total) than the official capacity (10). In view of this the owners offered you the following choice:
    1. Additional unregistered guests must leave the Villa 
    2. The additional guests could stay at the Villa at the original price so without the 20% discount.
    Option 2 was accepted.

    It's a lovely apartment, with fantastic views in an excellent location. I was really happy with it and have already recommended it to friends. I wasn't shown how to use the sofa bed, or given any sheets for it. The top of the sofa bed had obviously dropped previously which meant it was hard to operate. The agent was really friendly and helpful. She helped me with my bags and buggy as I had two young children on my own. She also called the owner to.

    Impressed with    : It's stunning and the people are so friendly.
    Recommend: The Elafiti island boat tour. Dubrovnik boat trip.
    Favourite villa moment: Eating breakfast whilst enjoying the beautiful view and then strolling along the sea front to get coffee, looking at all the boats.

    The TV seemed to be in German in some channels or have no sound for others. Mind you,we didn't spend much time in the apartment so it wasn't an issue for us. I would thoroughly recommend it, but you need to be able to cope with a fair few steps up and down to the apartment and the spiral stairs within the property.

    Impressed with: The food, scenery, water and plenty to see and do if you felt so inclined.
    Recommend:We tried a lot of the local restaurants and enjoyed them all!
    Favourite villa moment: Seeing the view from the apartment when we first got there. Beautiful!

    A small welcome pack for 2 tea bags and some water would have been perfect! Caretaker was very helpful, prompt and informative.

    The stairs to the property and very dangerous and not very suitable for lugging suitcases up. Also the spiral stairs to the apartment and extremely dangerous and I actually fell down them during our visit. There should be someone there to help you lift your cases up the stairs as we are only in our 30th and we struggled!!

    Impressed with: Laid back and relaxing.
    Not impressed with: The ants
    Recommend: Every restaurant we tired was great!
    Favourite villa moment: Seeing what super yacht was outside your window each morning - the view was amazing!!

    Villa comment:The stairs are wooden and steep because the house is tall and corridor is narrow but they are not dangerous. There is a handrail on the staircase (all the way from the ground to the top floor). It is a good idea for people to travel light when staying at these apartments. We don’t offer luggage assistance and those with heavy luggage do struggle. Unfortunately we don’t have the facility to offer a welcome pack.

    Everyone we have had contact with have been very helpful. Wifi would be useful. Also we felt the area / were geared to Germans and.Skandanavians. We found the women in the shops somewhat abrupt.
    Due to my husband’s difficulty in climbing steps the access was quite difficult especially up and down with the suitcases. On the night before we were due home there a German couple had moved in that day and were shouting, crashing and banging at 3.30 in the morning, we had to get up early the next morning.

    Recommend: No particular one they were all good and the staff friendly.

    Good website and selection of villas.

    Option to hire bikes - owner very kindly provided 2 but we would have happily booked good quality hire bikes in advance to have delivered to the villa.

    Traffic noise from road next to villa and aircraft noise as directly under the flight path. Probably need to be mentioned. 

    At one point an overwhelming smell of sewerage in the villa which the owner responded to immediately and fixed. Was very apologetic and gave a bottle of wine. Smell returned a couple of days later but we fixed as the owner had showed us - bleach down all the plug holes. He said it happened at most once a year and was outside his control as it was the town Seward overloaded with heavy rain. 

    The direct walk to the village is down a very busy road without a footpath - owner suggested we walk through the hotel opposite and used their lifts down to harbour side. Did this but felt a bit awkward! 

    Incredibly helpful and polite. Allowed us to use produce from the garden which was a surprise and a great addition.

    Impressed with: Lovely people. Beautiful scenery and villages. Superb restaurants.
    Not impressed with: Nothing
    Favourite villa moment: Picking produce from the garden and the owner - such a helpful friendly man, desperate to please.

    Excellent. It was a perfect location and the surprise was we could eat any veg/herbs straight from the garden.

    Although the booking was all done online it felt a very personal service.

    Impressed with: The seas, crystal clear and perfect for swimming. 
    Not impressed with: The supermarket and fruit and veg stalls were very basic, lots of flies and miserable staff.
    Recommend: Visiting Korcula by boat 
    Favourite villa moment: Buses to Dubrovnik very easy and simple to navigate. Island of Lopud simply beautiful much cheaper to get bus to Dubrovnik and ferry from there rather than ferry from Cavtat, you also get to spend more time on the island. Restaurant Dalmatia in Cavtat great food and most friendly service. Watching the water polo in the sea great fun. 
    We booked the transfer from the airport which was great.

    Impressed with: The coastline and islands that we visited on trips
    Not impressed with: Dubrovnik was disproportionately expensive to the rest of the places we visited
    Recommend: Restaurant Solitudo in Babin Kuk; Dubrovnik old town (although be aware that it's expensive!); Copacabana Beach (although it's pebbly).
    Favourite villa moment: Glass of wine on the balcony watching the cruise ships.

    Why did you book this accommodation: Seems like a good deal and beautiful accommodation. The owner was delightful and very informative.  She seemed genuinely interested in our well-being and comfort

    Recommend: Much preferred the local beach to Copacabana

    Caretaker was always helpful and very friendly. Mattress on the bed wasn't the best and gave us both back ache. The position of the toilet was awful for a man. It was located under an angled ceiling, so was very uncomfortable to use. The shower was also very very small. The rest of the apartment was very good, and clean.

    This property would not be suitable for people who are disabled or even particularly unfit. There are numerous steps to access the property which is also located on a steep hill. (Cavtat) is beautiful and quiet and not overly commercialised. The local people were wonderful and helpful and made our stay something very special. I was not impressed with the over-commercialisation of Dubrovnik, and would not return there.

    Villa excellent in all respects. You gave us all the information we needed. Owner fantastically friendly and helpful.

    Impressed with: Friendly people - wanting to share their country and show us a good time.
    Not impressed with: The parking.
    Recommend: Hawaii Bar very friendly and good basic food - superb location next to the water. Renting a small boat from the Hawaii Bar either to use alone or with a driver to explore coves and to visit the islands. Taking the bus into Dubrovnik very easy and better than trying to park. Zaton village for restaurants right on the water's edge and for boat hire. Beach at Zali close by and good for sun and shade.
    Favourite villa moment: The view from the terrace.

    Great place to stay to experience Croatian life. Very comfortable accommodation. Steps perfectly manageable. Great view of Dubrovnik harbour which allowed us to assess how busy the city was, according to the number of liners in port. Could do with more large glasses ( nothing suitable for beer!) Stock of salt / pepper and other basic cooking provisions on handover would be useful.

    Owner was very, very friendly and helpful. Always around or available when needed, yet discrete. Full of useful advice and happy to sort out trips. Top man!

    Impressed with: The beautiful countryside
    Recommend: Hawaii restaurant good tasty, wholesome, uncomplicated food. Great atmosphere and location. ( Shame about the hill.) A day boat trip with Tony's sisters husband (owner of the restaurant) highly recommended.
    Favourite villa moment: Boat trip with 'Evo' around the islands...caving, cliff jumping, snorkelling, sand beach and a good lunch. He's good company too, with tales of the war!

    Excellent. Owner was absolutely brilliant. So willing and helpful and went out of his way to drive us to places or organise transport for us.

    Whilst our stay was fantastic, some of the party couldn't take a hot shower as the hot water ran out really quickly. We didn't actually mention this to the owner though.

    Impressed with: The nearest bay the owner took us to…I can't remember the name but there were some lovely bars and restaurants and such a beautiful setting. I loved snorkeling at the nearest beach too. There were loads of fish so I would recommend that.
    Not impressed with: The people. The scenery. The beautiful sea.
    Favourite villa moment: There isn't one particular highlight... It was a super break that was just so relaxing. Glorious weather and beautiful surroundings. The Croatian people are utterly charming. They are genuinely lovely people. We would all definitely return.

    The whole experience was well managed, and any queries were dealt with quickly. It was a pleasure to book with you, and I noticed another family on the plane had also booked with you.

    The only item that would have been useful was a microwave oven and maybe a welcome pack of essentials ie milk, coffee etc.

    Caretaker was very helpful, popped in a couple of times to make sure everything was ok and arranged our taxi back to the airport.

    Impressed with: The stunning scenery, the friendliness of the people and the fact that it is not over spoilt as a holiday destination. We first went to Croatia on a cruise and wanted to come back for a longer stay.
    Not impressed with: I can't really complain about anything.
    Recommend:On the walk from the villa to Cavtat centre there are many restaurants and bars. If you on a budget stay away from the restaurants around the marina. However, you get what you pay for, the views across the bay towards Dubrovnik were stunning. 
    Favourite villa moment: Being able to sun bathe on your own patio and relax in private.

    Prior to departure we enquired re the availability of a hair dryer in the apartment. 
    You confirmed that there was one.  There wasn't !!!! 
    However, apartment owners lent us one for the duration of our stay.

    An electric kettle would be welcome as electric cooking rings are very slow and not well marked. (ie 1,2,3 etc). We borrowed a kettle from an adjacent (unoccupied) apartment.

    Molunat was very quiet (enjoyably so) - Restaurant Monica closed on our first full day there, so there were only two bars in the village (again not a problem for us) one not opening until 4pm somedays !!!!!, and no restaurants. Village of Gruda had a very acceptable local restaurant/bar (open all day and accepting Euros) - Bistro Belmondo. Apartment owner booked a table for us at Konavoski Komin - a car needed but well worth it. 

    Owners will apparently cook for guests IN SEASON.

    Impressed with: People, cleanliness and ease of motoring.

    The owner of the apartment was very friendly and helpful, as well as extremely tidy and organised.

    This property was very unique and perfect for the type of break that I envisaged and the description that you gave was exactly representative. I think it might be advisable to mention the lack of eating establishments available. There was only one limited restaurant, which was good. The apartment was for self-catering and that was fine but on a short holiday I was looking more for eating out. Luckily we had rented a car and were therefore able to go elsewhere otherwise I think we may have found it restrictive.

    I would really have appreciated some comfortable sun loungers and parasols to have put out on the rocky shore from which to sunbathe. There were a couple of old sun loungers not very easily accessed which I tried to use but could not get them to work. I did not find lying flat on a concrete slab very relaxing. This is the one thing that I missed on this holiday.  
     
     
    Impressed with: Roads very good but no traffic in the Konvale area that we were staying.
    Not impressed with:  The stagnation of political will to support the endeavours of the local community.
    Recommend: We visited Dubrovnik for a day which was a must., and also Cavtat which offered some holiday buzz.
    Favourite villa moment: We shared a barbecued fish supper in the beach kitchen of our accommodation with another couple who were staying at the same time. They caught the fish and cooked it there and then and we then ate it looking out at our fabulous view of the bay.

    It’s a beautiful spot, we hope to return especially low or off season. Some better information concerning what was available off season. Also, better signage on appliances including the bathroom water heater would have been helpful.

    Impressed with: We were reminded of the good value of a Croatian holiday, also how relatively unspoilt it still is, though this was helped due to it being low season. Food was better than some reviews!
    Not impressed with: he footpaths on local maps and literature were in some cases very inaccurate.
    Recommend: A short hop to the border of Montenegro brings further delights of the historic Hercog Novi and the bay of Kotor.
    Favourite villa moment: Either buying local strawberries to eat with breakfast on our balcony or swimming in the clear blue sea from the villa steps.

    The view has to be one of the most beautiful in the world. Property manager was very very warm and friendly and the welcome cakes and liquor were much appreciated.

    I think the statement of 90 steps is misleading as it is much more than that. The 90 refers only to one section. If I had known quite how many steps there were and that they were vertical for the most part I would probably not have booked it. As the Monarch flight arrives quite late, it means that you don’t have a chance to shop that evening. It would help to have at least something to make breakfast from eg bread, milk etc

    Impressed with: The views, Dubrovnik, and the friendly people. 
    Not impressed with: It is not somewhere to go if you have mobility problems or a fear of heights.
    Recommend: We found the best restaurants were across the bay in Zaton Veliki. We would recommend getting up early to go into Dubrovnik before the cruise ship crowds. The food in Dubrovnik was cheaper than we expected to find in a tourist city and we can recommend Mea Culpa for their ginormous pizzas.

    Croatian accommodation in villas is expensive compared with other locations and we would certainly have not gone to this one as nice as it was had it been at the published price. The villa has exquisite views but, and it is a very big but, the stairs down to it and onwards to the sea are daunting to the point that it would not suit any but the brave and fit which I am glad to say we were. I doubt to its suitability for children of all ages. In early years the hazard is obvious but access to the sea for ours (aged 13 and competent swimmers) did recommend a very watchful eye.

    The advantage of the property is its position for trips away from rather than to Dubrovnik. Dubrovnik drowns in visitors in the summer months consequent upon its destination for huge cruise ships who disgorge 2,000 + visitors every 24 hours. This visits upon a small city with a residential population of 1,000. Travel up the coast reveals much more of the real Croatia.

    A good service but the prospects of tourist travel to Dubrovnik in the middle term I think is problematic. It is over doing it and cruise ship deposit (numbers of people) will gradually produce negativity over this otherwise exquisite city.

    The owners are an exemplary couple who were kind discrete and helpful in every way.

    Impressed with: The coastline which is very beautiful and accommodating. 
    Not impressed with: The volume of visitors to Dubrovnik and the density of road traffic in and around it
    Recommend: The hinterland is full of good restaurants and we found those in Zaton particularly good.

    The yard was also nice, There surely were very many steps, but we managed and got good exercise. Caretaker was very friendly and helpful.

    Impressed with: Clear waters in the sea, nature, mountains.
    Not impressed with: Water in the tub didn't taste very good, although it was drinkable, which is of course good. 
    Recommend: Island Lokrum, Restaurant Buganvila in Cavtat.
    Favourite villa moment:  Our common meals, barbeques, eating around the big table out in the yard, swimming in the sea.

    Stayed October 2015

    Beach towels. On request, we did get additional towels but were told that these were not for the beach. For a 2 week stay, we did expect that the house would be cleaned rather than just having a change of linen.

    Villa Comment: All towels, including beach towels, are in the first landing wardrobe. The villa is always cleaned after one week, subject to the customers' approval to do so.

    I believe that the following comments in the description of the villa are misleading. "The villa is set on the edge of town and it is a short walk down a very pretty path through a pine forest to some wonderful swimming spots. It would not suit those with walking difficulties." In fact it's a walk down very steep steps which are unsuitable for either 70 year olds lugging suitcases or even 40 year olds with a toddler and pram, even if they don't have walking difficulties. The wonderful swimming spots are slippery and watch out for sea urchins. We are experienced international travellers and have expectations which were not met in some cases.

    Villa Comment: To get to the villa from the parking, customers have to walk 50 meters along the seaside promenade, then climb 40 steps. There is a gentler (but slightly longer) way up from the Franciscan monastery, which involves only 10 steps.

    Caretaker was Extremely helpful. Always quick to respond friendly.

    Recommend: They were all much the same. All excellent food and service. We never had a bad experience.
    Favourite villa moment:  The outside patio. Pity about the mosquitos

    From the car park to the villa is via many steps and some help with the luggage at this point would be very nice. Caretaker was very nice and helpful.

    Impressed with: Unspoilt and beautiful coast line and crystal blue sea .great for swimming.
    Not impressed with: No help with luggage up steps
    Recommend: Definetely Restaurant dalmacion (near spelling i think)in town centre in cavtat 
    Favourite villa moment:  Seeing the sea and boats from the village.
