Coast and Islands Northern and Central Dalmatia

Coast and Islands

Diving and snorkelling enthusiasts will be drawn to the clear, protected waters of the largely uninhabited Kornati archipelago, although general tourists too cannot fail to marvel at the stunning, natural beauty of this truly unique location. The beautiful Telascica Bay, part of the Dugi Otok group of islands, also forms part of this National Park and is also well worth a day-trip if you’re in the Zadar region.

For lovers of sandy beaches, the island of Ugljan offers some wonderful swimming spots around the picturesque fishing village of Kukljica, whilst the lush, green landscapes of the car-free island of Zlarin, just off the coast from Sibenik, make a perfect, sleepy island retreat. The island of Pag, meanwhile, has a lovely 15th-century old town from where you’ll be able to buy the island’s two most famous products – traditional, hand-stitched lace and the distinctive local cheese (paski sir).
