ISTRIA AND KVARNER GULF
Fair-Excellent. A working shower and better washing machine. (Recommend) Visit old Trogir, old Split and although not in the area Plitvice Lakes were amazing.
Favourite villa moment: Children playing in paddling pool.
Impressed with: It is our second time. The weather, idyllic setting and beauty.
Stayed June 2012
Apartment 2 was great. Very quiet, scenic, tidy with beautiful landscaping. Host was very good, very helpful, and friendly. Good language skills in English. Would highly recommend for anyone wanting a base near seaside in North. KRK Island is nearby but need to plan long drives to Istria, Lakes, etc. as they are distant. So best if you want place on seaside to relax, stay put with maybe closer area visits instead. Not sure we would book one place again but maybe stay in several for two nights each so we better see country. Like apartments versus hotels but to ease travel would prefer to stay several places versus so much daily driving. (Restaurants) We liked Nada on Vrbnik on KRK Island and Francopan locally. (Enjoyed) Just relaxing out on grounds in sun with sea facing
Impressed with: Beautiful country. Friendly people.
Not impressed with: Graffitti and satellite dishes on historic bldgs.

Our apartment in Medulin was great for just the two of us . Hadn't expected quite the culture shock of it being such a family destination at the beach but the apartment being the other end of the main area, with some really nice restaurants close by, suited fine plus we enjoyed exploring the national park and Pula , plus cycling etc
Stayed July 2017
The family are charming people. The father was there every day pool-cleaning and tending the gardens. They really do care about the contentment of their visitors.
We stayed two weeks. On the first day of week 2 they changed the sheets and towels and did a good clean. BUT they didn't give us toilet paper for week 2. I asked for some and he gave me one roll, but I thought "What a shame to give the illusion of being tight-fisted" when he is NOT tight-fisted. A quiet word in his ear is required; two rolls for week two, automatically, please.
If anyone asks for suggestions for a holiday, then send them to IS002A. It's wonderful.
Impressed with: Istria is full of interesting history, some pre-Roman. The people made a huge impression. Many of them speak excellent English and are genuinely Europeans. They are good entrepreneurs and there are lots of things to do.
Not impressed with: The run-of-the-mill tourist restaurants.
Recommend: The best for meat is "Salt and Pepper" on the road to the harbour and for fish it is Ristorante Mizerija, on the sea's edge round the corner.
The zipwire at "Adrenailin Park" is good and must be followed by the zipwire at Pazinska jama, 35 miles north.
Favourite villa moment: Diving into the pool at the end of the day. That really makes this villa stand out from others that are available.
Stayed June/July 2017
Villa Comments: For self-catering properties, items such as toilet paper, washing up liquid/cleaning products are not included in rentals although often items from previous guests are left at the villa for next guest use.
The apartment was very dark and the lights in the room were not very cosy. Owner was very helpful.
Not impressed with: Food, unfriendly people
Property response: I suppose that they were very dissapointed about the weather, it was raining all the time the whole week, very cold, they had heating on. Regarding the lights: there are 2x ceiling lights ( each with 3 bulbs in) and a lamp beside the sofa bed in the living room, again such a ceiling light and two lamps on each side of the bed in the bedroom...There is also a neon over the sink and one over the electric hob.
Stayed May 2013
It was perfect for our needs, demands and wishes. The only things are: - it is situated in the middle of industrial harbours which does not give the best feelings. But you do not feel any impact in the quality of the environment In general it was a very beautiful villa with an amazing pool and private beach!!! Thanks for this proposal. I already recommended you to several of my friends.
Impressed with: Sealine Nature Food
Not impressed with: People Cleanliness of the country
Recommend: Pizzera Petrus Restaurant Kokaban (or similar) was an excelent seefood restaurant both directly in the town
Favourite villa moment: Relaxing at the pool or beach. It was so quite - no Mallorca-beach-feeling at all. Perfectly for coming down from the stress.
Stayed August 2012
Impressed with: Cycling in Istria is very good with clearly signed routes to suit all abilities.
Not impressed with: Pula - worth half a day visit for the Ampitheatre otherwise very drab.
Recommend: Pizzaria in Sveti Lorec was good. 5 minute drive, 40 minute walk.
Favourite villa moment: BBQ early evening.
Stayed September 2015
Everything was as we expected. We only had two problems, one was the air conditioning which seemed to cool the property very well during the day when we were not in it but at night it appeared to change to 'heating'and so made sleeping very difficult and the other problem was with ants in the kitchen no matter how careful we were to make sure no food was left around. Agent was extremely pleasant and helpful. Owner was also very pleasant when we were leaving
Impressed with: The sunshine and the cleanliness
Not impressed with: We had no complaints about our visit to Croatia
Favourite villa moment: The pool was excellent
Stayed August 2012
Great pool & fabulous outdoor seating area. Poolside beach towels would have been a bonus. Lack of glasses for wine & soft drinks. Extra pillows would have been useful. Villa lovely but not brilliantly equipped. Local representative was friendly & helpful. Didn't really see the owner as he generally came round when we were still asleep.
Impressed with: Friendly people, beautiful scenery, great seafood & good value for money.
Not impressed with: Struggling to come up with anything negative to say about it to be honest. Not great if you're a big sandy beach fan I guess but we're not.
Recommend: Great pizzeria in sv Lovrec & the seafood restaurants at Limski Kanal are good. Church at Porec worth a visit.
Favourite villa moment: Early evening g & t watching the kids splashing in the pool. We will return to Croatia for sure!
Stayed August 2012
Everything was perfect, thank you.
Impressed with: Landscape & culture
Not impressed with: Nothing. Overwhelmingly loved it.
Favourite villa moment: Every moment spent by the pool, using the grill area, looking at the view.
Stayed June 2015
The young lady who showed us to the villa was so friendly and helpful - please pass my regards along to her! Everyone was amazing.
Impressed with: How incredibly friendly and hospitable everyone is, and the incredible unspoilt natural beauty!
Not impressed with: nothing
Favourite villa moment: The pool!

There is a serious safety issue in connection with this property. It is far from the main road and there are no public telephones around. In the case that somebody has an emergency the 112 hotline (or its local correspondent 94) CANNOT be reached from your foreign mobile phone (not even with Croatian prepaid SIMs). This has to be resolved ASAP, or lives might be in danger.
The owner was very nice and the pool has been cleared from twigs and leaves.
Recommend: Restaurant Nono had great food at reasonable prices.
VILLA COMMENTS: Signal strength at the villa is very good.
Stayed August 2012
Excellent. A lovely setting with great access to the sea. The owners could not have been more helpful. They were horrified that one of the air conditioning units was not working (the apartment had one in every room) and immediately arranged for it to be repaired, despite it being a Sunday.
Impressed with: Beautiful coastline, very good value for money.
Not impressed with: Some traffic congestion on the main roads on Saturdays.
Favourite villa moment: Early morning snorkel in the sea!
Stayed July/August 2012
Excellent. Very kind manager that lived there, she was fantastic.
Stayed November 2011
It was beautiful and the accommodation and location were really lovely. (The) dramatic landscape and the people were so friendly the weather was amazing. A great place to holiday, still unspoilt and relatively cheap.
Stayed August 200
Excellent. Extremely helpful owner who helped us with everything we needed during our stay.
Impressed with: Whole Istria was amazing.
Not impressed with: Istria beaches...
Recommend:Villa has a great location, so you are close to some of the most beautiful Istrian towns Poreč, Motovun, Grožnjan, Rovinj.
Favourite villa moment: Peaceful and quiet nights by the pool...
Stayed August 2013
Very nice cosy private property in a small rural village. Tablets/ powder were supplied for washing machine and dish washer. The property has very good wifi connection and air conditioning was available throughout the property. Most of our time was spent outside on the patio which has been partially covered to provide a shaded area throughout the day. The plunge pool and outside shower are a fantastic facility.
The agent and owner were very helpful. The owners welcomed us with a little snack when we arrived and came to provide us with fresh bedlinen and towels halfway through our stay and sent us home again with a cherished souvenir. The agent came out very early on our last day to collect the keys to allow us ample time to get to the airport on time.
Impressed with: Beautiful scenery, wonderful coastline, the nice food.
Not impressed with: Parking in Novigrad (be sure to have change)
Recommend: We ate at the local Konoba (2 minute walk) nearly every night. The food is very reasonable and plentiful not to mention delicious and the staff are very friendly and welcoming as is the local community. You can buy delicious homemade cheese, ham and salami and have a drink whilst you decide what to get, at a b&b/bike point in the village. Local seaside towns are a 20/30 minute drive away.
Favourite villa moment: Breakfast by the pool whilst being entertained by the occasional curious lizard. Breakfast by the pool whilst being entertained by the occasional curious lizard.
Stayed May/June 2015
Property description states several konoba within walking distance. In fact there is only one. More cutlery. a few general tourist blurbs but no advice on visits or local restaurants. Owner lived nearby, visited regularly, but was very discrete. Plenty of much appreciated gifts.
Impressed with: Surprised by the few arts and crafts accessible
Recommend:Go to grozjnan avoid all restaurants in Flengi, local konoba ok, go to fjord restaurant limski, though a bit more expensive go to grill at Gradina, cheap and good, but book and be prepared to wait
Stayed August 2013
We did thoroughly enjoy our stay in the lovely villa, and appreciated its proximity to the toll roads which took us to the parts of Istria very quickly and easily. It is a superb spot for anyone who wants to see your area, and has a mind to go into Italy or Slovenia.
A kettle or teapot of some kind would have been good, together with mirrors in the bedrooms. Some instruction on the electrical switches in the house would have been helpful to us when we arrived. We tried all sorts of combinations to get hot water, and probably made matters worse! A call to Neil soon resolved our issue with the owner sorting it for us very quickly.
Our party was made up of two families. Thus the siting of the air conditioning unit meant that we had to leave our bedroom door open to remain cool. Not ideal.
The Agent whom we dealt with was very helpful, both at the start and at the end of our holidays and was contactable if and when we needed to ask him about anything in the property
Impressed with: The people were always very nice to us and also had a superb command of English! This helped as our Croatian is NOT our strong point.
Not impressed with: The mosquitos! Say no more!
Recommend: The Konoba in Klostar 100-150 metres from the house was excellent. From the first night when we arrived late to our last night they were excellent. We ate in the same Konoba 7 nights out of the 14 of our stay. The staff could not have been nicer, nor could they have put themselves to any more trouble than they did. We would recommend it to any future villa guests. The shop adjacent to the villa selling Grappa Wine fruit & veg, like the Konoba, was excellent value for money and their fruit was beautiful!
Favourite villa moment: Having the five of us round the outside table with the barbecue on and with a nice bottle of red wine in the evening was good, but our hosts' touches of the platter and wine gift at the start and Grappa and Ornament gift at the end were both very unexpected, and were a very nice surprise. We did not get the chance to leave a thank you note for our host, but hope that you will tell him on our behalf how much we appreciated his gestures.

Johanna and the owner were very friendly and helpful. Johanna recommended us beautiful places to go and see. She was amazing representative. We loved her for her professional manner.
I have got few comments for you. I was strongly disappointed as swimming pool haven't had a jacuzzi as per your page specification. When we arrived at the villa we were looking for it everywhere until the agent said there's no jacuzzi at the place. This misleading information is still on your page therefore I will recommend to remove that from the below page: www.croatianvillas.com/accommodation/istrian-villa-pool-is027#BookOnline Built : 1906 Last Renovated : 2004 Area : 170 Sqm Frequency of Linen/towel Change : Once a week Maximum No. Cars : 2 Pool Size : 10m x 5m Pool Comments : Pool + Jacuzzi Pool open 15 April - 31 Oct Also we had mice in the house and you could find a droppings all over the kitchen dishes which was quite uncomfortable. We found few scorpions in the rooms upstairs and I would strongly recommend to warn all families with little babies staying at the villa. Last thing we had an owl at the property on the last day which made our stay quite uncomfortable as we couldn't even finish our breakfast and we left the property rushing.
Impressed with:Nice people, amazing food and great beaches.
Not impressed with: Scorpions,
Recommend: I would recommend all to go to Rovinj, Porec.
Comments. Jacuzzi has been removed.

Our host was fabulous. Charge more money and include toilet paper, dish detergent, dishwasher detergent, beach towels, salt, pepper and sugar.
Impressed with: The beauty of the country and the weather
Favourite villa moment: Sunrise and sunset overlooking the Sea
Croatian Villas comment: If you would like a grocery shop to be arranged before your arrival, we can arrange this if you e-mail us a list of products you would like purchased. Payment to be made locally.

Beautiful property but quite remote. We did have cars available but for the walkers in the party a four hour walk still didn't get them to a cafe or bar or resting place or the beach. The car had to go out and provide a pick up. Nowhere really to walk to. This was a one off holiday for two special birthdays so we had two villas. Probably the next special birthday I will be too old. Thanks for this one.
Caretaker was very helpful no problems.
Impressed with: The beach in Rabac. Weather, people and villa. Taxis were good, wine cheap and food very reasonably priced
Not impressed with: Staff in the Lidl supermarket were not very friendly. Guess serving so many all day made them "grumpy"
Recommend: We did experience the Battle for Labin. Very enjoyable evening out. Had birthday party at Martin Pascador restaurant as recommended? Rabac is also lovely to visit and not too far in a car.
Favourite villa moment: All nineteen of us getting together for an early evening swim.
Stayed July/August 2014
The only issue was that we booked one of four villas in advance while all 4 villas were free and asked for villa which was downhill - with terrace looking not to the swimming pool. We got the confirmation that villa is booked for us and when we came we found that our villa is exact the opposite - the only one with terrace looking to the swimming pool.
As 4 villas are sharing 1 swimming pool - daytime it’s quite noisy and not so easy to use the pool as it's full.
Impressed with: Nature
Not impressed with: A lot of ants in the house - we think that caretaker could instruct the guests how to fight them as finally they were leaving in all food except the one in the fridge
Recommend: The beach in Rovinj
Favourite villa moment: The last day when the weather has finally improved)
Villa Comments: Not all 4 villas were free and this was confirmed at the time of booking to the customer. The best available villa was booked and given on arrival. In general the properties do all have sea views, some slightly more than others.
Regarding Ants. Sprays and other chemicals are laid down where possible, it is important to keep food away as much as possible especially in Mediterranean villas to stop ants being attracted.
Stayed August 2012
I was interested in Stone Villas, more than what AirBnB offered. The decor was very nice, but we found that there was a lot of decor in the kitchen that we had to remove to make room for using the countertops and to make room for the food that we brought. The kitchen lacked a toaster/toaster oven.
The property was advertised with a pool. We visited in March, and the pool was open but it was not heated so not usable. Heated pools should be in properties that are advertised with the pool as a major feature.
Recommend: The local seafood restaurant in Trget (that was mentioned in the description) was excellent! The other restaurant in that town was very overpriced.
Impressed with: The people of Croatia were so nice! The country was lovely, with amazing cities and countryside. Wineries, olive oil and truffles at the markets and Roman ruins.
Favourite villa moment: Use of the fireplace was great!
Stayed March 2018
Croatian Villas Comments: In March the weather in Croatia can be varied and is often hot which is why pools are open at this time. We do offer a range of villas with heated pools which can be found using the Heated Pool filter in the search results.
It was utterly beautiful and exactly what we were looking for. It came with everything we needed and i.e. everything in the kitchen that we needed for cooking. The only issue we had was that 2 of the sun loungers broke within a minute of sitting on them and it was obvious they'd been previously stuck back together (the owner admitted this). This meant two of us were without sun loungers but we were happy lying on the cushions around the pool. This may however, be a problem for other guests. Owner was Extremely helpful and charming
The only minor issues we had was that I needed to contact you to ask for information on directions, what to do on arrival etc. Once I'd had my full payment confirmation, I didn't hear from you and as the holiday approached I was worried we weren't going to. Despite that, when I contacted you Agata was extremely helpful, sending me all the information in a timely manner. It would have been useful to know that a rep was going to be at the airport to meet us - we weren't aware of this and she was wondering around the airport at Pula looking for us. We had booked a car but because this wasn't in my name she couldn't identify us when she did her rounds of the car hire windows. If we'd known to look out for her we would have done this first.
Thank you for a wonderful holiday, it was perfect!
Impressed with: The beautiful weather, lovely people and gorgeous coast line
Not impressed with: Nothing, we loved it all!
Recommend: Martin Pescador in Trget
Favourite villa moment: Lounging around the lovely pool and eating delicious dinners and BBQs on the terrace.
Stayed September 2012
The web photos were a bit misleading. We were expecting a much larger pool and thought there were NO adjacent properties. Neither of these turned out to be a big problem but they were initially very disappointing. The owner/neighbors were very nice and it was too cold to swim much.
I don't think the availability of 6 bikes was listed, and it was GREAT to have them.
Owners and agents were outstanding! Lovely, helpful, relaxed folks. The owners dog was a frequent visitor and a true delight (also VERY well trained, did not even try to get in the house).
Easy web access, great properties, good prices. Thanks! Great, easy vacation
Impressed with: relaxed people, history
Recommend: Our favorite restaurant in Croatia was right around the corner, Puli Pineta. They did a special celebration dinner for us that was wonderful. The caves in Slovenia, Rovinj and Porec, Wine tasting, Bjuni National Park, Pula - all well worth the visit.
Stayed June 2016
While the main house was fully air-conditioned, it was disappointing that the 2 bedrooms in the annexe did not have A/C - units were outside the bedroom areas. The agent was great and helped us find a bakery for birthday cakes, while the owner was unobtrusive and helpful regarding when the pool was cleaned. Extremely helpful service from Croatian Villas agent Katija.
Impressed with: Having been before there were not too many surprises, but Istria was especially nice and not overcrowded, with an excellent road network.
Not impressed with: Nothing - everything was fine
Recommend: Nothing specifically culturally - the cave at Festini - Festinsko kraljevstvo - was nice as were 2 local restaurants - Konoba Puli Pineta and Restoran-Konoba Zminjka
Favourite villa moment: Probably evening meals using the kitchen facilities and barbeque after visiting the market in Rovinj for fresh fish, meat and vegetables.
Stayed July 2015
Good-Excellent. Offering a food 'welcome pack' type service would be really useful - especially for those arriving later on a Sunday, as we were. As mentioned to the agent, there were a few small items not provided in the main property, which would have been nice and just add the finishing touches, e.g. toaster, pegs, spare bin bags. Agent was very friendly and informative, although unfortunately, not all of the information he gave was up to date! We enjoyed the small local cave at Festini, as well as the more obvious attractions in Porec, Pula and Rovinj.
Impressed with: Lovely scenery, interesting towns and friendly people.
Stayed June 2012
Our host was great! Went out of his way to accommodate us.
Impressed with:Endless stunning scenery. Easy to navigate around to enjoy exploring. Culturally interesting. Great value for money.
Recommend: Kataka beach bar - great food, great service. Riva restaurant - Selce
Favourite villa moment: Dinner alfresco by the pool, overlooking the stunning views of Krk.
Stayed August 2014
Excellent. Helpful and friendly service. The caretaker and cleaner were very helpful
Favourite villa moment: Everyday!
Stayed August 2016
This is a wonderful place and combines rustic Istrian charm with modern 5* living. We were fortunate enough to have found this magical place to host our families, friends and wedding. Secluded enough to be private, central enough to be easily found, this villa and Istria will play a large part of our lives to come.
The owner was accommodating, friendly and helpful beyond belief. He made us and our families so at home. We could not have asked for a better host. His advice and knowledge of the area, food, wine etc was impeccable. This made it very difficult to leave.
Impressed with: The friendly people and the high quality of food and wine.
Not impressed with: Not many (if any) sandy beaches... although we knew that already!
Recommend: The town of Groznjan is a short drive away and is home to arts, music and has beautiful vistas. We would recommend restaurant Bastilla, which serves some of the finest food we have eaten.
Favourite villa moment: So many... Barbecueing throughout day and night Ping pong by the gorgeous pool Preparing for our wedding Nights by the fire-pit Ad-hoc football on the huge field 5 star luxury all to ourselves Drinking good, local wine into the night on the gorgeous terrace This Villa was made for favourite moments.
