Croatia holidays ‘continue to grow in popularity’

10 June 2011
The number of people enjoying holidays in Croatia could be on the up, after new statistics showed the country’s airports to be significantly busier.

Data released by the Central Bureau of Statistics revealed an 18.4 per cent surge in passenger numbers over the first four months of 2011 compared with the same period last year, reported the Croatian Times, following a piece by Business.

In April alone, some 365,000 people are said to have passed through the airports of the nation – more than 36 per cent ahead of 2010’s figure for the month.

The largest number of arrivals and departures was recorded in Zagreb – Croatia’s largest travel hub – ahead of the southern Dalmatian city of Dubrovnik, the news source noted.

Destinations such as Dubrovnik, Split and Rijeka are particularly popular with tourists.

Indeed, TNT Magazine recently identified Split and Dubrovnik as two of the major highlights of holidays in Croatia.
