Highlights:

Montenegro: Take the main coastal road to the Croatia/Montenegrin border (around 30 minutes drive through the Konavle Valley). Spend time in Montenegro and explore the spectacular Kotor Bay visiting the pretty waterside town of Perast and the magnificent cities of Kotor and Budva. Enjoy the wide beaches at Sveti Stefan and Ulcin. Montenegro also offers plenty of hiking, rafting and kayaking opportunities.

Distant view of Dubrovnik City, CroatiaDubrovnik: At the end of your stay in Montenegro, return to Croatia (Dubrovnik Region) and relax at one of our recommended properties. You can choose either one of the popular cities of Cavtat or Dubrovnik and live amongst the locals in these historic city centres, or stay outside at one of our cottages/villas located in the smaller villages where you can enjoy a stroll to the beaches or local Konoba (Croatian taverna).

Suggestions, Recommendations, Variations

When you book your car hire from Dubrovnik airport make sure you advise the car rental company at time of booking of your plan to take the car into Montenegro. There is usually an additional charge to arrange this.

Enter Montenegro and drive past Herceg Novi to take the Lepetane – Kamenari car ferry crossing operating 24/7. Takes around 10 minutes and costs around Euros 4 per car. This offers a quick route to get to the other side of the Kotor Bay if your accommodation is located here without having to drive around the bay (a much longer journey).

Old boat next to a road on Cavtat costline, CroatiaIf you choose to stay in a Dubrovnik or Cavtat city property, parking may not be possible near your apartment, you may have to park your car in a public car park usually around 5-15 minutes’ walk away. One option to consider is keeping the car for a limited period while you finish your car based excursions and then returning it a little earlier whilst you enjoy exploring the area by foot or local excursions. Please speak with one of our consultants for further advice and assistance.

Day trips available from Dubrovnik by car worth considering a a visit to the Arboretum at Trsteno, a three island boat trip or why not make it a 3 country visit by embarking on a day trip to the fascinating city of Mostar in Bosnia.
