Stayed July/August 2017
Alex has been very helpful, answering all my queries quickly and sorting things out for me
The property is generally delightful - the bedrooms and en suite bathrooms are all beautifully fitted out, as is the living room. We did not need the sauna,"spa" or gym in temperatures of 30+! The kitchen is very well fitted out, the a/c is brilliant and all the outdoor seating areas are large and very comfortable. The pool is great, but the jetty is superb for diving and swimming - just have to be careful of the sea urchins!
Owner was extremely helpful and wanted to do all he could to make our stay in his villa memorable: he organised a small boat for us for 4 days and took my sons to collect it from Slano, he brought us fresh fish from the fishermen, which he picked up at 7 am. When we had a problem with an a/c unit he came immediately to fix it and frequently asked if there was anything he could do for us - a charming and delightful young man.
Impressed with: All the people we met were very helpful and proud of their country. They truly wanted visitors to enjoy it. The scenery is breathtaking - both from the sea and on the coastal road English is spoken everywhere and the children learn it at primary school.
Not impressed with: The lack of investment in the infrastructure and the poor state of the economy. Apparently there is huge unemployment and disappointment that there has been so little help forthcoming from the EU.
Recommend: Obviously a trip into Dubrovnik is essential: we were advised to arrive after 4 pm, when all the cruise ship passengers have left and it is cooler. We drove straight up to the fortress, visited the War museum (fascinating) and went down to the city on the cable car, which is open until midnight. There is time to walk the City Walls, wander and have a meal before returning in the cable car to our free parking spot.(parking in Dubrovnik is difficult and terribly expensive) We loved having the small boat, with out board motor and sun awning, seating about 8 people, (which Alex and Ante organised for us) and visiting small coves for snorkelling. A lovely lunch spot is Luka's in Kobas, near the southern end of the Peljesac peninsula (turn left out of Ston) it is on the quay and we were able to swim between courses. No credit cards and quite expensive. Bakus in Ston has good food and is good value. The little kiosk on the way to Mali Ston is great for oysters. Gastro Vista on the road to Majkovi (Ante has details) has wonderful views and lovely food cooked on a wood burner. (no credit cards) We did our large super market shop in Konzum - 10 minutes out of the airport, which was useful as the small shops in Slano and Ston are limited
Favourite villa moment: Many lovely moments, but perhaps the favourite was sitting in the garden at night star-gazing and counting shooting stars, with no light pollution - and a glass of Sljivovica (plum brandy)
Stayed July 2016Idyllic setting in a very quiet, almost private, bay with plenty of space both inside and out and with its own access to the sea for swimming and snorkelling. The location is perfect for those wanting to be away from the hustle and bustle of a city, but only 40 mins drive north of Dubrovnik and just 15 minutes from the walls of Strom. The villa itself is very well appointed with sauna, games room and gym. There is even a wine fridge stocked with local wines which can be purchased, making sampling very easy! Each bedroom has a very modern en suite/ wet room and is air conditioned. The villa wifi proved itself to be very reliable after a slow start on the first day. Plenty of balcony and outside terrace space, both covered and open with bbq facilities available. All in all, a great place to stay, chill and relax, but within easy travel of Dubrovnik along the spectacular Croatian coastline.
The owner is a really nice guy who can't do enough to help you with advice and recommendations and even willing to acquire fresh fish from a local fisherman if you fancy it.
Impressed with: Beautiful scenery, very friendly people and reasonable prices, even for 'touristy' Dubrovnik.
Not impressed with: Nothing
Recommend: Bakus restaurant in Ston served fantastic food with a great variety on the menu including local seafood and was also great value. All the coastline was a delight, but a drive up to the island of Korcula is worth the trip and a visit to the walls of Strom a must on top of the obligatory Old town Dubrovnik. If you get the chance, drive up to the top of the cable car for spectacular scenery.
Favourite villa moment: The tranquil setting of the villa is my abiding memory. Sitting outside by the pool with a glass of rosé taking in the beautiful sea and island views as the evening falls!

We booked through Croatian Villas part of Authentic Villa Holidays as it was the only place that I could find a villa to sleep 21 people for a reasonable price! We felt so looked after, Ivana made sure that we had everything that we needed.
When emailing Sarah she facilitated taxis too and from the airport for all 21 guests who were arriving at different times throughout the weekend. Ivana turned up at the villa on the Sunday to accommodate us leaving early and getting our deposit back. We couldn’t have asked for better service. Sarah recommended a caterer for the Saturday evening who was also fantastic.

Recommend: I would recommend Copa in Zotan for dinner. We went to Revelin in Dubrovnik for a night out - I would recommend that for younger groups looking for a club. I would also recommend the buza Bar for sunset and drinks

The caretakers were very responsive.
I believe the description should have included that the house is on a hill and does require some physical ability to get to and from the small Zaton village. If you had a physical issue it would be a problem for any guest, as it was for one of our family members.
The lower two bedrooms cannot be accessed from the house. You must walk outside and upstairs to join the main part of the home. These family members felt a little removed from the rest of the guests.
Impressed with: It is clean, very clean and the landscape is breathtaking
Recommend: Zaton Water Sports assisted us with all of our activities. They coordinated an evening sunset boat trip to Dubrovnik, a full day private boat tour and coordinated all our other transportation needs. They were very helpful.
Favourite villa moment: The chef at The Capo Restaurant came to the villa and prepared a beautiful cooked breakfast on the large outdoor patio.

It is a lovely villa - probably could do with a top up on kitchen equipment but nothing apart from that. I think you did a great job.
It would be helpful to mention that you need to allow ample time for getting on and off the island on changeover days/at peak times - because of the one narrow bridge and the volume of traffic. We didn't realise and nearly missed the check in desk on the way home.
We booked transfer taxis and boat hire through your recommended agent. Both were great.
Impressed with: The scenery and some of the architecture is lovely, the sea is warm and calm and the people were really welcoming.
Not impressed with: The wine left a bit to be desired sometimes, but apart from that there was nothing.
Recommend: Take the ferry to Trogir. It's a pretty place with great restaurants - ferries run all day and evening so you can go for dinner. Either hire a boat or take an organised trip to one or two of the islands. Great snorkelling and water ski-ing. The beach restaurants are fine for a casual supper.

Just wanted to thank you for a fabulous holiday in TG001 villa near Trogir
The villa was clean and modern with spectacular views of the sea from both balconies.
The sea is so clear there and we could reach it in minutes via the garden.
The area is quiet not overrun with tourists but an easy walk to the village and the boat taxi to Trogir
We hired a little boat from the village rental place and went exploring anchoring in a deserted bay for snorkelling
The caretakers were delightful. We had a problem with the fridge, drains in bathroom and Satellite tv and struggled to reach her by phone but once you got hold of her they came straight away to fix it.
Theres a new Studenac supermarket opening this weekend up the road behind the villa so that will be handy for your future guests
Also Baldo from the taxi firm Ivan Golez speaks great English and was really helpful he took us to Krka and waited all day to take us home bless him.
We did find he was not there to meet us from the plane but I rang Davorka and she sent him to get us- apparently he had arrived to get us at 11.30 in the morning instead of evening.
Also thankyou for the breakfast welcome pack and letting us stay till 7pm on Saturday which made our late flights much less stressful.
I would definitely travel with you again and recommend Croatian Villas to friends.

Stayed September 2016Fabulous villa listed. Absolutely as described if not better. The nicest villa we have ever stayed in. Great showers and air conditioning, super livable and loads of room for a family or even two families traveling together. Perhaps families with small toddlers would not care for the steps and lack of beach but for anyone with kids over six years old it is perfect. We cannot wait to come back!
Joseph the owner does not speak any English but he was so kind and helpful throughout our visit. He came by to, point out the outdoor shower and even brought over sweets one day. His daughter was here when we arrived to, help with getting us settled.
Perhaps an English version of a local handbook of where things are and how to use the oven. Really not needed but most rentals have one.
Recommend: A short 8 min walk down the way brings several very good restaurants, all with great prices and friendly service and cold local beer. A small market is only five min walk in the other direction. Do not ever use Trigor Dive Center for snorkeling or scuba. They are very unprepared, unprofessional, and it is obvious they are not customer oriented.
Favourite villa moment: Sitting on the terrace in the morning drinking coffee, sitting in the afternoon reading, sitting in the evening with a cold drink. Jumping into the Adriatic Sea a mere 20 meters from the villa and floating around with the family.

Excellent property. Fantastically furnished for our use. Bit difficult to locate for taxi (and subsequent taxis) as quite an unusual approach - possibly a map? The agents were fabulous and the cleaner was lovely (she had had a poor experience the week before so I think we were quite welcome)
Might be worth stressing that the deposit is in Euros - I double checked with you so it was fine for us.
The holiday exceeded our expectations. The villa was far better than I expected, the welcome (and buffet) unexpected and very generous, I had missed that there was a cleaner - so excellent! The supplies were appropriate and more than I expected - for example I bought dishwasher tablets and there were some left. I think you probably under sell yourselves!
Impressed with: Water cleanliness.
Not impressed with: The people could be a little gruff
Recommend: The windsurfing and paddle board rental was ok and nearby. The Tommy supermarket was the best - but very busy in the afternoons and quite a walk so pick your time. The restaurants nearby are mixed (Leonardo best) but boat into Trogir gives loads of choice of excellent quality.TRS Konoba and Don Dino our favourites. The ice cream bars are all great.

Communication was clear and quick, and you were very helpful and pleasant to deal with. Stayed June 2016Excellent property, in excellent condition - everything brand new in 2015. Elegantly and tastefully decorated and furnished, with plenty of space. Kitchen facilities and kitchen and dining equipment plentiful and all superb - good working aircon. 3 different eating areas dining room, patio terrace and balcony. Fantastic spacious pool with lots of comfortable pool terrace furniture. Well maintained grounds - with added value of pool table (as in shooting balls not water) and table tennis and large barbq area. Great location in quiet neat smart neighbourhood 1 minute from local beach and just a 15 minute pleasant waterfront walk to:- the main beach of the whole island plus local shops; bank atms; bars; cafes; nightlife; restaurants; and regular water taxis (running morning to midnight) to nearby historic Trogir. If one was being picky in an ideal world some would want a rental where the 15 min walk reduced to 5 mins to the local action but not a big deal, and otherwise this is pretty much the perfect holiday beach villa. Good security (building locks and safety deposit box). Beds all comfortable, all rooms had en-suite shower and bathrooms in excellent condition all worked - towels and bed-linen and mattresses good quality and very comfortable. Plenty of storage space.
Local property manager was very helpful, professional and welcoming - very responsive to all requests, well connected and informed for making related tour arrangements. Very quickly resolved couple minor problems same day reported . Just 30 mins from Split airport. Stacks to do in the area from R&R, soft adventure, culture, natural beauty, boat rides, snorkelling etc weather in August perfect blue sky sunny all day pleasing 28-32 hot temp dawn through dusk - odd evening 20 minute thunderstorm clears the air keeps things fresh . The overall area offers something for families, toddlers. young kids, couples, teens, those in their 20s through all the ages to retirement folks. Tip if you getting a transfer to anywhere for tour when leaving the island get a water taxi to Trogir for Okrug jetty (15 mins from Villa Avalon see comments above) and start transfer from there as always delays on bridge to get off island and you save a lot of time, hassle and money getting boat first to skip the bridge and more pleasant than the traffic jam. I am very well and regularly traveled worldwide over many years (business and leisure) and an ex-media professional (now latterly a travel professional myself so not automatically pre-disposed to giving glowing reviews and not easily pleased coming to all travel experiences with a 'crtical eye' ) and this property and resort rank very highly. Very satisfied with the whole process from our first conversation, when they (Authentic Villa Holidays) were very helpful.
Although it was no problem to us, I imagine that Ciovo is pretty well clogged with traffic in the high season and I feel that should have been mentioned by you. Disposal of rubbish was a bit of a problem and nothing provided for recycling.
Loved the garden area, great for BBQ's on the patio. Only saw caretaker on arrival, but she was easily accessible by 'phone. Very pleasant and helpful.
Impressed with: Beautiful scenery and National Parks. The people are friendly and helpful.
Not impressed with: A tendency to cater for mass tourism.
Recommend: Better restaurants are in Trogir. We enjoyed Toma.

Great location and view. A wonderful villa. The owner was very helpful and attentive to our needs.
The bathroom needs a deep cleaning & disinfection, pipes need to be replaced to get rid of the drain flies that are present.
Impressed with: The nice and clear water of the Adriatic shore.
Not impressed with: The traffic in Trogir / Okrug Gornji is crazy, in august we had to wait every time at least one hour to exit the tourist area by car. A lot of time wasted in the car because the road are very narrow (~4m) and both way traffic!
Recommend: Leonardo Restaurant, Rent a Boat from Marko.
Favourite villa moment: Every evening and morning in the balcony were memorable because of the great view.Villa Comments: Confirm receipt of feedback including with the negative comment. Regret the guests have discovered such inconveniences. Of course, revision, cleaning and all corrective actions will be carried out for future guests. Stayed August 2015We had the most fantastic holiday in idyllic beautiful setting. Would recommend. Caretaker was very kind and helpful when we arrived and throughout our stay. Some instructions leaflets on how to use apartment equipment and may be some maps and a guest book would have been nice.

Stayed August 2015We were very pleased with the property - it was comfortable and clean and we just had to step out of the back gate to get to the sea. We had everything we needed.
The owners were wonderful - very kind and welcoming, and offered to help us find our way around. They also left us a wonderful salad with local octopus. They really looked after us, and answered any little questions we had.
Impressed with: Friendly people, beautiful outdoors, lots of activities and also lots of culture.
Not impressed with: Lots of building going on...feels like it is developing rapidly.
Recommend: We enjoyed many outdoor activities in the Split area including rock climbing in Split (Marjan), canyoning in Cetina, kayaking from Split to Trogir and ziplining in Omis. All of these were great activities, very well organised and the scenery was beautiful.
Favourite villa moment: Sitting outside in the garden in the evening with a view of the clear sea :-)

Very comfortable, traditional style. Fabulous views and so convenient for the sea. Loved it! Great for relaxation but close to great tourist spots. A full length mirror in the house would be nice. Car hire recommended.
The owners were amazing! Couldn't do enough for you. We were given fresh vegetables, homemade olive oils, even an octopus salad! The owner’s son and his wife spent time with us in Split to show us around. They even took us to their home and gave us food and drink. We were bowled over by their hospitality. At the same time they managed to maintain our privacy and were very respectful of our time and space. Lovely people.
Impressed with:Friendly people and narrow cobbled streets in the towns.
Recommend: TWe recommend visiting local towns and villages Marina and Trogir, slightly further the beautiful town if Primosten. Very traditional and beautiful towns with marinas: lots of quaint shops and restaurants.

Lovely choice of properties. Very beautifully furnished, more like a home than a rental property. Everything we could need was there and little extra touches too. Our garden was stunning with lovely shady areas, beautiful planting, a lovely grill and seating area, all leading straight out of the back gate to the sea.
The owner was a Wonderful hostess. Her son liaised with us and Maria looked after us the whole time we were there. He even processed a parking ticket for us as we did not understand the language.
Impressed with: Friendly people, good roads and directions. Excellent food. Wonderful cities and architecture and dramatic scenery.

The property was stunning and the location amazing. We explored the coastline and visited the Krka National Park. Owner was very helpful.

Recommend: Toni's Buffet in Sevid is good value and a visit the the Krka National Park is a must

The owners were incredibly helpful and very hospitable. They looked after us really well and we would thoroughly recommend this property. The cottage was very clean, the garden was fantastic and we had lots of helpful equipment (sun loungers etc.). A first class cottage. We were met on arrival outside of the village and escorted in which was extremely helpful. We then had difficulty finding the cottage on the second night (you need a car) and got lost, as it is quite a tricky village to find in the dark. We rang the owners who came and rescued us! We would recommend taking more notice of the very local signs on arrival if possible. They proved useful for the rest of the holiday.
The owners were extremely helpful and went out of their way to support us. We could not fault them at all.
The cottage photographs on the website do not do it justice at all. I would recommend adding more and enhancing the quality of the property promotion materials. It really is a beautiful cottage.
Impressed with: Beautiful scenery, lots to visit, friendly people. Very cosmopolitan. Main roads generally excellent, (but some local roads very poor).
Not impressed with: Too many unfinished villas and apartments giving Croatia a slightly shabby feel. Very, very busy in August but that is not unique to Croatia. Some local roads very poor quality.
Recommend: Trogir is beautiful but very busy in August so you need to visit a little early in the evening (for example) to ensure parking. Primosten is also very attractive as is Rogoznica and Marina is nice but has limited restaurants. Sibenik is worth a visit and the Krka National Park is amazing - but be warned it is very busy in August. Split is also worth a visit but it is a bigger city than we realised, so be prepared to hunt for parking. We parked at the Joker Shopping Centre which was free. The old part of the City is very attractive.
Favourite villa moment: All of it. Plenty of space for four, good air conditioning, a beautiful and interesting garden and an excellent sun terrace with great sun loungers. And a great little beach. Very comfortable generally and plenty of room for a car. Owners were fantastic.

Comments: A good place to park in Split is at the railway station. There is a car park here which is cheaper than the car park located at the entrance to the Palace. It is only a 5 minute walk along the harbor where the ferries are docked from the railway station car park to the Palace.
