6-month music festival could be worth trip to Split
18 December 2009Musicians may want to travel to Split in 2010 after it was announced that an international musical vehicle will be held in the city from January until July.
An acclaimed London-based orchestra - the Saraband Consort - will kick off the festival with a performance at the Gallery Mestrovic, reports the Croatian Times.
It comprises eight musicians, each with a unique cultural background, who combine to produce a distinctive award-winning sound.
The musical vehicle is a collection of solo and group performances by a range of singers and musicians from a host of European countries, the newspaper reveals.
With such a diverse range of music on show, the event could provide the ideal reason to book a Croatian holiday.
Part-funded by a British Council arts initiative, the musical vehicle aims to educate and entertain as it tells the story of European music throughout history.
Those who travel to Split will find a "beautiful, affordable and luxurious" country in Croatia, according to CNN journalist Ami Angelowicz.
