Accommodation in Split 'is ideal base from which to start Croatia holiday'
15 December 2010The Dalmatian resort of Split has been highlighted as the perfect place to start a tour of Croatia by one author.
Samantha Daniels, writing for the Huffington Post, explains the destination is easy to reach – as it has its own airport – and offers the simplest access to the beautiful islands of the Adriatic.
While the writer does not recommend spending too long in Split as there is plenty more to do in Croatia, there are a couple of must-see spots.
For example, Diocletian's Palace is an ancient building that is well worth a look, with Ms Daniels urging visitors to do the self-guided tour in order to get an impression of what the residence would have looked like in its heyday.
Some tourists may also wish to venture out of their accommodation in Split to take in the luxurious surroundings of its promenade area, before moving on to one of the romantic islands.
The resort can be reached from London with budget airline easyJet, perhaps offering people a comfortable and affordable start to their break in Croatia.
