Airline launches summer Belgrade to Pula flights

Serbian airline JAT Airways is to begin flying from Belgrade to the historic Croatian city of Pula from the start of next month.

The airline has opted to resume operations between the two destinations following on from the massive success of the service last year.

Indeed, JAT saw average capacity rates of 98 per cent for its flights from Belgrade to Pula last summer, with the beach resort proving a popular draw with Serbian holidaymakers.

The airline will offer the direct flights out of Belgrade on Thursdays and Sundays, with two additional flights a week to be introduced from the start of July in order to cope with the annual boom in demand for Dalamatia vacations.

Tickets for the flights start at £35 one-way, excluding taxes, the Croatian Times has reported.

Pula, which has become a major Croatia holiday destination over recent years thanks to the low-cost flights revolution, is the largest city in Istria county.

In the past, a number of top writers and authors chose to relax in a Croatian villa within the city walls, with Ireland's James Joyce having taught English in Pula's Berlitz School between 1904 and 1905.
