Airline looks to boost Croatian tourism interest
20 January 2009Croatia Airlines has revealed that it is looking to further increase the popularity of its home country with travellers around the world.
Speaking to Flight Global, the head of company commented that it would be working alongside the Croatian tourism board to encourage more people to visit the Adriatic hotspot.
Outlining the importance of the tourism industry to Croatia, Ivan Misetic referred back to the country's fantastic performance as a holiday destination last year.
Mr Misetic told Flight Global: "The main goal for 2009 is to protect the levels of 2008.
"Tourism represents a quarter of gross domestic product in Croatia, so with the tourism board we will do our utmost to protect the figures from last year."
He added that the airliner was yet to feel any major impact as a result of the global economic slowdown.
Earlier this week, Ryanair revealed that it was to be launching a new route to the Dalmatian destination Zadar from Edinburgh Airport at the end of March.
