Anica Kuk is "star attraction" on rock climbing holiday in Croatia

Part of northern Croatia is perfect for a rock climbing holiday and features a "star attraction" for enthusiasts to tackle.

The Deutsche Presse Agentur suggests the Paklenica National Park, close to Zadar, is frequently enjoyed by climbers.

Indeed, most of the 110,000 annual visitors arrive with the intention of reaching particular summits.

One of these should be Anica Kuk, standing 712 metres high, which is described by the news source as the greatest lure for rock climbers.

"Since 1830, more than 80 different ascent routes have been staked out by generations of climbers," it states.

But Anica Kuk is not the only peak for visitors to experience, as the region is famed for its steep cliffs that are a "magnet" to those who like the pursuit.

It is also possible to enjoy hiking trails and scenic walking routes through the national park.

The Croatia Traveller website notes Zadar can also act as a base for exploring the Plitvice Lakes.
