Art fans could flock to Dubrovnik for holiday
29 June 2010Art and sculpture fans may rush to book accommodation in Dubrovnik after learning of a new exhibition that has opened in the city.
A display of work by famous Swiss painter and sculptor Alberto Giacometti is now running in the southern Croatian resort, the Croatian Times reports.
It is being hosted at Art Gallery, whose curator Franziska Lentsch is said to have been the brains behind its conception.
The exhibition is made up of scores of items and pieces of work donated by Giacometti's wife, the newspaper explains.
Interestingly, although the artist was born in the Italian portion of Switzerland, his work contains a strong Parisian theme.
Fans of such work have until October 6th to travel to Dubrovnik and enjoy the event for themselves.
The display could also be easily accessed by people in Spain, after national carrier Iberia announced it will run three additional services to Dubrovnik each week for the remainder of the summer.
