Athletes to travel to Korcula for "world's most stunning Triathlon destination"
22 December 2010Scores of athletes are due to travel to the Croatian island of Korcula in the spring for a prestigious triathlon.
The Marco Polo Challenge will take place on the landmass, located off the coast of Dubrovnik, on April 30th, organisers have confirmed.
Described by bosses as "the world's most stunning triathlon destination", Korcula will provide the ideal backdrop for the test of endurance, speed and skill.
And it is not only the sporting action that participants and spectators have to focus on, as the island is putting on a range of parties and activities to run alongside the event.
Professional and amateur racers will combine to run through the beautiful pine forests of central Korcula, before swimming in the crystal-clear waters of the Adriatic Sea.
Those planning to take part may be wise to secure accommodation in Croatia as soon as possible in order to ensure perfect preparation, while others looking for a luxury break in the sun could simply time their stay to coincide with the competition.
