Australians given Croatia travel boost

Australian tourists planning a trip to Croatia have been given a boost by details of new flight schedules.

The arrival of a long-awaited flight pass from Europe by Air means travellers from down under heading to the Adriatic coast can now board a flight straight to Croatia upon touching down in Europe.

Previously, Australians heading to Dubrovnik or Split would have been forced to take a ten-hour detour via Rome to reach their destination.

But, using Vienna and Frankfurt as gateways, passengers will now be able to hop straight on to flights to Croatia.

People taking a Croatia holiday this summer may also be interested to learn that a new route between the country and Athens has been announced, opening up the possibility of a dual-destination break.

The flights will cost about half of the previous price charged to travel between two of Europe's most historic countries.

Budget airline bmibaby recently announced the introduction of flights linking its base at East Midlands Airport with Croatia.
