Author recommends Croatian islands
22 May 2008A range of activities can be enjoyed on the Croatian islands, it has been reported.
Jane Foster, author of the Footprint Croatian Handbook, has compiled a list of the top ten islands in the country for the Guardian.
Her recommendations include Hvar, which is said to be ideal for celebrity spotting, and Rab, a popular destination because of its nudist beaches.
Ms Foster said the country's islands offer everything from isolated beaches to 24-hour parties.
She added: "You can bed down in a boutique hotel or a back-to-basics cottage [with] no running water [and] no mains electricity, depending on your pain threshold.
"It's also outside the eurozone so your holiday cash will go a bit further."
Recently, Hvar was recommended as an ideal spot for holidaying families.
The New York Times reported the island is popular because of its quiet atmosphere and Venetian architecture.
A small port, Jelsa, can also be explored on the southern coast of the island.
