Balic 'prepared' for handball championship
13 January 2009Croatian handball hero Ivano Blasnic has stated that he is fully-prepared for his country's upcoming world championship.
As reported on Javno.com, despite struggling with a back problem the player should be able to run out in front of 4,000 fans in three days time when the Infernal Ones take on South Korea in their first match-up.
After two-and-a-half months on the sidelines, Balic said that he was more than ready to line-up alongside fellow handball stars Pero Metlicic and Blazenko Lackovic.
According to Javno.com, Balic told the Jutarnji list: "It is nice to be in your town in front of your crowd."
He added that he could not wait for the tournament to begin, which gets underway on January 16th at Split's Spladium Arena.
Travellers visiting Croatia for the championship may be interested in experiencing some of Split's other attractions, such as the city's historic centre, which has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage site for the last 30 years.
