Balkans 'to take over' London wine fair
22 April 2009Renowned winemakers from Croatia, Bosnia and Slovenia are set to make hotly anticipated appearances at next month's London International Wine Fair.
The event, which is hosted from May12th to 14th at the UK capital's ExCel centre, will feature more than 1,300 exhibitors and 15,000 industry professionals.
A spokesperson for the event said: "Love for great cuisine, viticulture and 'savoir-vivre' are common values shared by countries of the Balkan peninsula, so the next step for local winemakers is to present their products to a broad British and international audience."
Croatian houses displaying their wine at the show will include Pz Vrbnik, Bartolovic and Zlatan Otok, while local Bosnians Hercegovina Produkt and Citluk will also be putting in appearances.
Earlier this month, the travel writer Claire Mann noted in the Telegraph newspaper that Croatia's Dalmatian Islands offered some of the best food and wines in the region.
