Bilic to stand down as Croatia boss
05 January 2009The Croatian national football team coach Slaven Bilic has announced that he is to stand down from his post.
According to a national newspaper, the former Everton and West Ham player will leave his role following the team's World Cup 2010 qualifying campaign.
Perhaps his most-famous game in charge was against in England at Wembley last year, when Croatia came from behind to win 3-2 and eliminate the hosts from the tournament.
Mr Bilic told Sportske Novosti: "I will stay at the helm until the end of this qualifying campaign but not a second more.
"England are in a commanding position to cross the finish line first but things can change."
England's earlier qualifier against Croatia saw thousands of fans descend on the country, with many of them staying to sample the sights and attractions of Zagreb.
Those considering a holiday in the country should consider renting a Croatian villa, which can provide comfortable and affordable accommodation for travellers.
